hi

a quick question i was wondering, when the hermes store buyers/managers go to paris in feb do they go to see whats going to be available then order it whilst in paris or do they see whats available then return say to the uk or wherever and make there order from there? just thinking about how it works when your buyer has say a few options that you have listed for trying to order??

I'm guessing that it depends upon the store, but my SO earlier this year wasn't put in until April (and I believe end of April at that). I'm not sure when the fall SO's go in relative to fall podium...

My understanding (at least, of how my store works) is that the SM makes note what colors customers are lemming for and when she goes, she brings that "list" with her. It's not an official list by any chance, but rather a heads-up of what people want and she tries to order accordingly (e.g. if more people want black, she'll order more black etc).

They make the order there and then, they don't return home and then decide what to order.

In addition to ordering colors/skins that the SM believes his/her clients will desire, the SM is also required to order a certain number of bags in the new colors for that season, whether they like them or not.

SOs are placed shortly after podium, as I understand. However, I do not believe that is a hard and fast rule. SOs can be placed throughout the year for VIPs.

right thanks everyone for the info! im confused as to whether my croc order is a podium or SO as the buyer has a list of a couple of colours but said when she is in paris she will bring back new samples for me to see so i can then decide - as she said the colours ive listed for her may or may not be available! so i am just confused....ive heard SO's get put in 1 month after podium...........

It sounds like a SO to me. My store has a podium order wish list, which the SD tries to place at podium. When she comes back (or while she's there) she will let me know if she is successful. For example, a certain color I wanted in clemence was only available in togo, so she emailed to see if I would be happy with it. I have also placed SOs for colors, skins, combos, etc that aren't available at podium. These were discussed both before and after podium, but the "deadline" was a month or more after the SDs returned from podium.

^^thanks for the info - yes thats what i was thinking might of happened, i suppose each store has a budget for podium so as its only a small store the budget may be taken up by now especially when it comes to adding a croc in! ive read the stores dont always inform clients as to whether its a podium or SO, im thinking this could be the case with me!! at least its making more sense now, i didnt want to bombard the manager with my questions!! as long as it gets ordered and arrives thats all that matters i guess...

Hermeschickuk, if the colour and skin you have requested are available to order at Podium they will do so and its classed as a podium order. If the colour you chose is being "rested" for that season then your order would have to be an SO. This is assuming that you have not asked for anything out of the ordinary i.e. different colour lining, contrast stitching then it would definately be an SO.

mistikat - my local H never gives out much info! totally different to say london who have dished out info left right and centre to me without me being a known client as such (had only bought an exotic cdc from sloane st london!!) im a regular shopper at my local H but from shawls to bags everything is a bit hush hush! they get there in the end though!just my personal experience.........

ms birkin, no nothing out of the ordinary lining or otherwise, i saw 3 reds in the book which were noted down and apparently there will be others on offer?

I would think a question about the process and timing of your order wouldn't be considered top secret? Makes sense for you to know directly from them so you can plan accordingly. And truly, they are the only ones who will know for certain. Anyone here is just speculating and because things differ from store to store (never mind country to country), it's nice to know others' experiences but they won't necessarily apply.

mistikat others here shop at the same store so it helps me a bit in knowing what they have found time wise, hopefully my store will have more info in feb - i cant get any answers until then i guess looking at the advice ms birkin has kindly given if they were able to give info then i would of got it yesterday but they didnt know!, sounds like its a grey area as to what might be happening to my croc order thanks!

Just checking, anyone can advise when i can place my podium order for classic birkin (eg, like europe such as FSH)? Normally how long is the wait? thanks
