I have psoriatic arthritis, which is very similar to RA, but with a psoriasis component. I currently take Enbrel, which is a once weekly injection, and it is amazing. It has completely changed my life. It is a biological drug, in the same class as Remicade and Humira. Your friend should definitely talk to her rheumatologist about getting on one of these medications, or at the very least getting on one of the other dmards, like methotrexate or arava.
