I am so torn... wondering which of these two bags I should get next. Both are about the same size and cost about the same too.

LV Retiro PM :

Reasons for choosing this bag: becos it is LV and LV is always my first love. Great quality of leather, workmanship, and durability. And I know it will always stay in good shape after long-term use.

But I already have monogram bags, so I think perhaps I should get something different. That's when Bal comes to my mind.

Balenciaga Velo:

Reasons for choosing this bag: Never owned one before. Heard a lot of rave reviews about the soft leather and the rich colours. Find that the colors are unique too.

But my worries are whether it can last as long as a LV bag, and would the leather become too wrinkled (or even cracked), haggard-looking, and too slouchy in time to come.

Pls help me choose, esp those Bal and LV lovers who own these bags - what are your likes and dislikes about these bags? Pls share your views with me.

OMG, I love BOTH of those bags!!! I had the Velo but recently sold it....Bal leathers are delicate and I always fear ruining them. That's a tough choice but I think I would go with Retiro!

I LOVE Balenciaga, but IMO if you want something that will last you for years to come, I'd go with the LV. As much as I adore them, Bals leathers are quite delicate and require babying. They also tend to look quite well worn over time regardless, so unless you are up for a worn-in boho chic look, stick with the LV.

If you aren't a fan of slouchy, wrinkly leather - Balenciaga bags are not for you. That is my favorite kind of leather, so of course, I adore them.

If you like structured bags, why don't you check out Celine?

Thanks for all your advice.

Oh yes.... That is what I fear most... having to babying the bag and that the leather is too delicate and may become too soft and wrinkled. Slouchy bags are not my style too.

Hmmm... Guess Bal is out of question now.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Thanks. I will check it out. :)

OMG we have the same problem on which bag to buy. I have LV mono speedy and I'm eyeing for a Bal bag. I already decided to buy that B bag but now after reading this I cannot decide anymore :( :(

I personally don't like balenciaga!

Go for the louis vuitton!
Check out the Artsy too!

Hi!

Thanks for the suggestion! I did consider when I was thinking of buying Artsy or Galliera, and in the end I chose Galliera.

Now I am looking for a bag that is not too big, and good for both work and casual (and must be able to hold the new iPad), that is why Velo and Retiro were shortlisted.

Please, if any good ideas, share with me. Thanks.

Bal Velo will be my pick between the 2. If you don't like the well-worn look as time passed by, Bal may not be an option for you.

Other suggestions will be, how about a Celine Luggage/Phantom?

Check out the alma in epi leather, I don't think the vernis is appropriate for work, but the red epi alma gm I think hold and iPad, and it's great for going out too!
