Has anyone here, living outside Japan, ever managed to buy a Hermes bag from a reseller in Tokyo?

I am desperately trying to get a pre-owned Hermes Kelly with a reseller. The only girl who speaks English told me that they would not accept payment for a bag from somebody living outside Japan (?) and that they would not hand out the bag to a third party, like the courier, who would pick up the bag on my behalf and on my expenses and risk (the shipping part is already organised and does not cause any problems).

I do not understand this rule, but since I have asked an employee from a shipping company in Japan to call on my behalf and he got back to me with the same answer and no other explanation, I think this was not only a missunderstanding due to language problems. :shrugs:

Any idea how I can get around this?

Domo arigato gozaimashita in advance!

PS: I do not know anybody in living in Japan. Ahh and I am living in Europe.

Nala, my purchase was made by my sister during her flight to Japan. She went to the reseller shop by herself. I called the shop to check the product availability beforehand. I don't think they do the overseas shipping.

In return, if you bring your bag to sell in Japan, they won't accept it. They buy bags from residents only.

Japanese Yen is so strong now while Euro is weaker. Big inventory is also in Europe. The bag you are buying from Tokyo must be very unique, otherwise.

Did you try to use a third party auction service that practically do everything for you? I think you can solve your problem this way.

Hi Oily, thanks for the info!

Why is this? I understand that they do not want to ship overseas, but I do not understand why they do not sell to customers outside Japan, especially as in my case, I would take care of the shipping myself (they would need only to hand out the bag to the carrier)

Actually the bag I want is not unique at all: it is a 35 kelly in rouge H, clemence taurillon. It is 10 years old and does look used, but this is exactly what I love about it! I do not pamper at all my bags and I do like the “vintage” look. As a matter of fact one of my birkins is sitting in the closet and come out only once or twice a year just because it is not clemence or swift leather and it does hold its shape very well and looks brand new (no bat wings at all)… just not me :shrugs:… Sorry if this sounds a bit weird LOL!

I just think that resellers in Japan do offer pre-owned bags with sign of wear to much lower prices then in the rest of the world, while the new bags (or almost new bags) are much more expensive in Japan then somewhere else. No?

Thank you very much for this great advice. I have immediately subscribed to Celga and I hope their fees are interesting also for shipping goods to Europe.

I just browsed shortly their site and I saw that they charge everything in US Dollars, so I will have to evaluate if it is still worth the trouble to get this H-bag from Japan. But thank you very much for helping!:ty:
