Hi! If you have a vintage Alhambra pendant in malachite can you please share a pic of it?

My husband bought it as my push present and it’s my very first VCA piece. I plan to use mostly as an every day piece, but now after reading about it I’m wondering if I made a mistake choosing this stone… it seems really fragile. My main concern is that it will be damaged by sweat (I tend to get sweaty in my chest area when it’s hot sorry that sounds gross lol) and I almost wish I chose the WG guilloche or chalcedony instead but I’m way past the exchange date  hopefully you guys can share some insight and convince me I didn’t make a mistake? I’d especially love to see some pictures of what it looks like after wear!

Thank you all

If you love the stone don’t let it deter you from wearing it. Yes malachite is more high maintenance and it depends on body chemistry as well, some people don’t sweat in them at all but their stone still changes color. If you love it I would just wear the heck out of it and when you’re ready you can replace the stone for about $200 USD since it’s just one motif.

There is already a malachite wear and tear thread where you may find useful photos of how the stone wears over time. Good luck!

Aw I don't think you made a mistake. It seems to be a very meaningful piece, so for that reason alone, I'd hate to get rid of it. Rather, I'd either do what @tenshix said and wear the heck out of it until the stone needs replacing, or wear it more as an occasional piece. Either way, I wouldn't leave it sitting in a box. I have a couple of jewelry items that I wear maybe less than 5 times a year. But each time I do, I fall in love with it all over again and can't imagine letting it go.
