Hello everyone! I am having my e-ring made, it will have a half carat emerald center stone (emerald cut) with diamond halo. So far the center piece looks like the Tiffany's Soleste emerald cut ring.
What I need help with is the window height. Right now I've been shown a rendering with the window 2.77mm and the entire center piece stands 6.40mm from the top of my finger. I wanted a low setting, would 6.40 mm be considered low? Would any ladies mind measuring how tall their settings are? :smile1: tia!

Sorry, I don't mean to be negative, but emeralds are a terrible choice for a daily wear ring. They are very brittle and can easily be damaged when struck. Best to put the emerald in a pendant and wear something on a daily wear ring of a harder stone, diamond, sapphire, ruby...

You're not negative at all, that's actually very useful info. Unfortunately I've already settled on the emerald- no backsies. But I'm confident in how careful I am, so we'll see how it goes.

Yea...I asked because as beautiful as they are, Emeralds themselves are not daily wear stones. Halo settings are already not really daily wear friendly, but if you're planning to wear this every day, you really want to set this with a bezel set halo, vs a prong set halo. And I would caution away from full eternity on the shank. For more protection. All of the previous posters are cautioning you with good reason. Personal confidence is one thing, real life is a completely different animal.

Eek I totally agree here, Emeralds are my birthstone and I love them but not enough to risk it in my E-ring with the stories all my gemologist friends have told me. I do hope you find a good solution for the setting. Best wishes and congrats btw.

I would suggest that you have the emerald bezel set to protect the stone and have it in as low a setting as possible. If it was my choice I would bezel set the emerald east-west in a gold band with a bezel set diamond on either side. But it's your choice so good luck with the design and congratulations.
