I saw one other thread that discussed the white gold/platinum comparisson but I didn't want to hijack the thread so I will start a new one.

Here is my dilemma ~ my engagement ring is platinum. I tried on several wedding bands and the one I liked is white gold and I thought they looked great together.

The store only had the style I liked in white gold so I really don't know what the same band would look like in platinum with my engagement ring.

Would I be making a mistake going with two different metals for e-ring and wedding band?

Do any of you have two different metals for e-ring and band?

I really like sparkly and that's why I'm attracted to the white gold and I'm afraid the platinum wouldn't be as sparkly but I do realize they change over time......

Please help.......

If your e-ring is Platinum get Platinum.

White gold and platinum aren't "sparkly", they're shiny. THey are different "Colors" and types of shine. Over time Platinum and Gold scratch. Platinum can be polished back to a shiny new finish though pretty easily. Platinum doesn't lose metal with polishing, nor does it need plating to stay white. Over time the white gold next to the platinum will eat away at your white gold, and every time you polish the white gold youll lose metal and require replating to keep it white.

And as far as the design of the ring, it should look the same as the white gold as it will in Platinum.
