Please help this tiny puppy!

Firstly, Mods, I am not affiliated in any way with this group (they are based in Turkey) - I came across this from a friend via Facebook and it broke my heart. This puppy is going through this *right now* and it is urgent to get the info out ASAP. If this should go in a different section of Animalicious, feel free to put it there.

This puppy, who has been named Vania, is fighting for his life with a Turkish rescue organization - he was found about 24 hours ago on a garbage dump, almost dead, with his dead sibling. He is not out of the woods yet and no one is sure if he will survive. I am linking to the videos of his rescue, and of him as he currently is, as of a few hours ago, resting in the warmth, with human company. WARNING - the first video is graphic and includes footage of Vania's dead sibling. Vania himself is also in terrible condition. Please watch these videos and please, please consider donating even a small amount to the organization (LetsAdopt!) that is helping Vania and many other cats and dogs in Turkey.

I have forwarded to many I know. I don't know how to Facebook or Twitter (I know I know :Push:smile:

I already donate to several animal charities, so I will look into this one too.

Thank you, Couturegrl! The more the story gets out, the better.

Dolllover - I do not work for this rescue (they are in Turkey) and I don't know the procedure that was used during the stitching up. If I could hazard a guess I would say he is almost certainly too weak to stand a general anaethesia. Perhaps they used a local, I don't know.

As of last night he was resting in an oxygen chamber as his breathing was still laboured.

I was going to drop $200-ish on the new Dior spring makeup collection today, but sent it to this rescue instead. Money well spent, I reckon.

Thank you, Poopsie, for forwarding, too. I emailed the rescue and when they heard I was in Canada they asked if I could foster! Apparently they need US and Canadian fosters badly. So I have sent them my info and my dogs' info and we will see.

Latest update from rescue:

"Vania spent his last night at the vet yesterday...
He left this morning and has gone to one of our best foster homes where he will continue his treatment and recovery.
We are now totally confident he will pull through..
Will provide another update this weekend, he now needs to rest... :smile:

Side note-- after your post and looking at that rescue group's site, I contacted a local animal rescue and got a copy of their volunteer packet. I'm going to turn it in tomorrow...just wanted to let you know you gave me the nudge I needed to get involved again :smile:

That is AWESOME, Couturegrl! I'm so happy about that, good for you!

Little Vania is with a foster in Istanbul still, slowly recovering. As anyone who saw the original video knows, he was very close to death, so he still has a ways to go.

Also, anyone in the NYC area, please see the post I am about the make in the pinned rescue thread...! Minor transport help DESPERATELY needed, no fostering or keeping pups in your home!
