I bought this cute simple purse specifically to wear with two summer outfits. It fits the bill perfectly except for one thing: it's a killer on my shoulder :crybaby:

It's a small bag and although the strap isn't thick, it's not what I would call puny. I don't know if it's the weight of the leather or the shape mixed with the strap or what. But when I wear it... even EMPTY ... I get a pain where it sits on my shoulder within minutes.

I considered just buying a new strap. But as you can see from the pic, the placement of the hole makes it impossible. It's too deep to just hook another one on.

On a whim, I took the shoulder pad from my laptop bag and added it to my purse strap. Immediate relief. But oh em gee. It's so... not cute and unpolished

I did a cursory search and found a leather one more to my liking (see pic) but I'm afraid it won't offer enough of a buffer. It's also laughably wide compared to my strap.

I'm tempted to save myself the headache and just find another bag but it takes me foreverrrr to find what I like at a price I'm willing to pay.

Can one of my fellow Coachies offer advice or link a reasonably attractive pad that'll put out the fire in my shoulder?

If you're dead set on keeping that bag, from the look of it the strap cannot be removed without cutting the stitches, then maybe a LARGE o-ring may help. Maybe a 2 in would do. But The hole for the strap looks close enough to the edge where it might work. Then you can attach any strap you want from there.

I do find that some of the older Coach bags are heavy!! I learned that the hard way while I was buying preloved. They look great, and don't seem large but can be so heavy. Personally, I've sold any bags that hurt when I wear them.

Have you tried wearing it crossbody? That might relieve some of the weight

I have and carry some beautiful leather Coach bags, but only for very short trips, to Mass or to a party, something that will only last a short time.

If I know I am going to have to carry a bag for a long while, I will generally carry LV canvas or Longchamp Le Pliage. I have neck and should issues.

What a pretty bag! I hope you find a pad that will make it work for you!
