Hello ladies.
Few days ago, I took my Perfect Edge out and noticed the flap turned red!
I'm so shocked.
When I reached out the SA in Seoul, they said I need the invoice for the bag to be taken for deliberation. The thing is that I bought it in London back in 2016 and don't have the invoice.
Have any of ladies had this kind of issue?
It's really crushing and upsetting at the same time. :'(
Thank you in advance.

Yes! The same thing happened to me! I didn’t use my caviar Boy for a year or so, and kept it in my wardrobe in its dust bag. I noticed after a while that it had turned what I’d call a bronze colour (only on the quilted parts, nowhere else on the bag). It wasn’t very obvious but when I pointed it out to people they could see it. I was so upset; I couldn’t love it anymore so I sold the bag, and luckily someone bought it and wasn’t bothered. Funnily enough, the same thing has started to happen to my Chanel pearl combat boots on some areas of the leather. It’s hardly noticeable though. My boots were kept for several months in tissue paper in the shoe box so I’m wondering if it occurs from being in storage and not being used. It’s really upsetting when we spend so much on these things. I’m so scared of it happening to any of my other bags, particularly as I’m not using them that much due to Covid. I did so much research after it happened to me and couldn’t find anything. I think something like this might have happened to someone on the Hermes forum.

did you not use your bag for a while? Was it in storage? Please let me know what your SA says.

@herabebe How are you storing your bags (in dustbag + box)?

I can't remember her IG handle, but someone had a calfskin coco handle and the smooth calfskin handle (+ part of the bag?) turned bronze and when she sent it for repair, they said it was a flaw and gave her a credit.

Maybe try asking another SA, at another store, and see if they can send for repairs. If you have the authenticity card, that might be OK too?

oh no! I'm surprised this happened to caviar... they say it's the most durable. Just curious, do you keep it close to windows/sunlight or live in a humid/hot environment?

No, I live in the UK, so no heat or humidity! The bag was always stored standing up in a dust bag in a closed wardrobe. The light didn’t get to it. My boots were stored, again in a wardrobe, resting on tissue paper inside the shoe box. I wonder if it’s some sort of chemical reaction between the leather and the material of the dust bag or tissue paper, or whatever the item is stored in, when it’s left for too long. I was so upset about my Boy bag and I should have taken it to Chanel but I didn’t know if the issue was obvious enough. Also, I had already returned a faulty bag and was being made to feel like a difficult customer!

It happened to someone else and here is the thread they started about it, and I posted pics in the thread of my caviar Boy bag. It seems to me that it happens to some bags when they are stored for a while (as in a year or more) without ever being used. Although it happened to my boots after about 6 months.

I’m so sorry that this happen to you too. :( On the other hand so happy that you found a buyer!
I have not used the bag for a while since the baby but that’s just less than a year. When I searched this issue some says it’s because of the actual dye of the black Chanel bag!! According to people who had this problem they purchased their bag
or small leather goods around 2016-2018. So if you purchased your boots this period then maybe it is the problem of the dye not the storage.
I’m trying to take it to the store this weekend even though the SA said she would not take it for deliberation for the defect without the invoice.
I thought the guarantee card would be enough for them to track down how much I paid for the bag, but boy I was wrong.
If the SA would not take it then I must sell it like you did.

That’s what I exactly thought. However if I purchased the bag overseas then the invoice is a must for any refund or exchange. Such a stupid rule I think.
