Please help, my new bag was treated and it Looks and Smells Terrible!

My new (to me, it's an 04) bag was treated on the handles and they are very shiny and look like plastic and the odor is overpowering. The treated leather handles look completely different from the leather of the bag and I think they actually make the bag look fake, which it isn't.
I only buy older bags and I actually like the warmed and softened handles of pre-loved bags.
Does anyone know of any way to, I don't know how to put it- undo a leather treatment? Are there any moisturizers or cleaners that might at least dim the shininess? Any suggestions regarding the odor?
I'd really appreciate any help you knowledgable ladies can offer
Thanks!

Do you know if they were refurbished by LMB? My guess b/c a friend of mine had a similar thing happen to her handles after sending to LMB.
You may want to ask the seller what was done to the handles. Sounds like LMB handle restoration. Theirs produces quite a shine.
I don't know if that would cause the odor. I don't remember my friend saying there was a terrible odor.

Fiebings (leather products specialists) has a product called Deglazer. You may want to contact them and ask what you can do.

The LMB products I've purchased don't have odors. They are fragrant or non-fragrant. I would contact the seller and just ask. She disclosed that the handles were treated, so she shouldn't have an issue telling you what exactly was done or who did it.

That product seems perfect. Thank you so much!
(As for the Pistachio City, that's how I feel about Vert Fonce RH Work ;) Good luck!)

I would still make sure to check with the seller on what exactly was done and also speak with Fiebings about the deglazer. Just to be as sure as possible. ;)

LOL! Good luck on finding VF Work too!
