Hello ladies,

How do do know the HCA score for this diamond doesn't have Pavilion angle percent ? What do you think about this Tiffany &Co diamond.

Carat weight : 1.14
Color : G
Clarity : VVS2
Round Brilliant cut.
Measurements: 6.71x 6.78x4.18
Cut: Ex
Polish : VG
Symmetry:Ex
Total depth percentage: 62.1
Table size percentage :54%
Crown angle : 35%
Pavilion depth percentage : 43.5%

Fluor : faint

Girdle finish : faceted.

Thank you .

Well, you can't really (technically there is, and its probably about 41° based on my math). You need the actual angle to know for sure, but there's too much rounding that can occur in these measurements, and you don't know which direction they rounded. But I can tell you that it's a hair too deep for that table percentage and will have some leakage and slightly worse spread than it should, i.e. smaller diameter than it COULD have. There's better in their selection.

HOWEVER:
Big however: did you see this in person? What did your eyes tell you? You're buying a diamond, not a grading certificate. So if your eyes loved this stone, that needs to outweigh what a piece of paper tells you.

Cheat Sheet:

Total depth between 59 – 61.8%
Table diameter between 53 – 57%
Crown angle between 34.3 – 34.9 degrees
Pavilion angle between 40.6 – 40.9 degrees
Girdle thickness between thin to medium, faceted (bruted isn't bad, but faceted would be better)
Culet size: none

When you're dealing with a table of 53-54, you want the depth to be in the 59-60 range, not the 61-62 range. I harp on the 55 because it's RIGHT in the middle of the range, and sometimes a 56. The middle of the range is PERFECT, and is always talked about as the perfect table number.

The angles mentioned in degrees are a range, obviously you're going to have interplay, so there's not a specific ratio there. You have to see what the numbers on each stone are. There really is a bigger range of angles than that but ideally those would be great to hit.

Girdle: Bruted isn't horrible, my current stone is bruted. I LIKE Faceted better, but bruted isn't a horrible thing.

HCA:

Factor Grade
Light Return Very Good
Fire Very Good
Scintillation Very Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 2.4 - Very Good - Worth buying if the price is right

And from Tiffany--I would not personally say "the price is right". But again, your eyes need to be the decider.
