Hello! I want as many opinions as possible! For your own collection, if you could only pick either the Petite Malle OR 2 empreinte bags (speedy 25 bandouliere in infini collr and bastille pm in noir color), which would you pick? These choices are both about the same price. Photos of all 3 bags are attached. TIA!

*edit: I’m curious what you would pick for your own collection. I don’t necessarily need any of those 3 bags, so it would help me decide hearing people’s thoughts for their own collection. I know that might not make a lot of sense :)

I think it depends on what you already have in your collection. The petite Malle to me is a true collectors piece and not really practical unless you carry very little while the other 2 bags are every day and more practical.

Thank you for the reply! I have enough bags to not necessarily “need” any of the three which is why I’m curious what you would choose for your own collection because it would help me to know how to choose for myself. Sorry if that doesn’t make much sense

For me.. Petite Malle. No question. Already have plenty of casual/practical leather bags. I own a few PM and while they do not hold much they meet my needs. They can be worn casual or formal and always get looks/compliments. Plus the design is just darling, will make you smile whenever you wear it:flowers:

No offens to anyone who loves it, but the finish of that leather is not at all luxurious. Feels rubbery. It reminds me of my first and last visit to a Michael Kors boutique.
Even the embossed leathers at Vuitton have a soft and unique feel. Épi is the least soft but has such a unique texture. Taïga is way softer and more leathery as other Saffiano style leathers. Taurillon is of course a the queen with its natural grain. And I can go on and on... But Empreinte, based on its looks it should be a soft leather with natural texture, in reality it is feels plasticky and rubbery compared to what I'd expect. As far as I know, the original version from 2010 was softer and more natural, but they changed the coating after the first wave of complains on durability. Mahina suffered the same treatment, it was buttery-soft originally (and of course, less durable), but its new version got sturdier but stiffer too.

Wow, this is literally great info on the different LV leathers! I appreciate you sharing this knowledge. Do you know when the empreinte leather became more “rubbery”? The two bags I listed are from 2012-2014.

I don't know the exact year, but I think that it was after that. 2012-2014 were still the "early years" for Empreinte. But those are also the years when Empreinte bags had serious glazing issues. They even recalled many.
