Please help me decide - mini Evelyn in gold or orange?

Both lovely little bags @frarov! My tpm’s are my favorite dog walking/quick errand bags I have. If it was me, I think I would choose the leather that really made my heart beat faster! The Evelyn’s hardware doesn’t seem to show as much or to be as obvious to me as on other H bags. I get preferring a certain hardware - I’m a total phw girl, but I did buy gold hw on an anemone kelly as it was just a stunner of a bag. It’s also the only ghw I own, and if I have a choice I always go for phw. So now it sounds like I’m saying choose based on hw! :P Gold and orange of course both classic H colors. I do notice contrast stitching on the gold/ghw, and it’s not my preference except in certain colors, but perhaps you love it. I guess if I had these 2 to choose from I would go with orange and phw, I tend to like brighter colors.

Of course, only you can really know how much the hw would bother you if you kept the orange. I will say I have a black and a mauve sylvestre TPM, and when I carry one all I see when I look down is the lovely soft clemence leather. Some things you haven't mentioned that might help us sort it out with you. What clothing colors do you wear most often, and what is the climate like where you live? For example, if you're in the NY Metro area it's likely that you wear a great deal of black and experience all four seasons. If that describes your lifestyle, the classic Gold would work best year-round and not look "Halloweenish" when you wore black. For me, the Orange is a fun pop of color but less versatile. That said, only you know which one "speaks" to you. Yours is the only vote that counts.

I have a B30 in Gold GHW and a K28 in orange PHW. I always thought that I disliked PHW and turned down an Evelyne during my first meeting with my SA because it had PHW. But, PHW works well with orange...I think GHW would be a little staid. I'd focus on the color of the bag/leather rather than the hardware. Gold is really a neutral and goes with just about anything and, if you'd asked me six months ago, I'd have said that orange would be challenging to wear but it's not...it goes with many of my outfits. However, gold goes with pretty much everything.

So, if you don't have a good neutral, go with gold; if you already have neutral covered, the orange is lovely!

I generally prefer PHW over GHW though on an Evelyne of any size, there isn't all that much hardware to show.

I agree with you! There is something special about small bags in bright colors, and when I first mentioned the Evelyn TPM to my SA I asked her if she could find me a "non-neutral" one. But then she showed me the gold and I always dreamt of an Hermes bag in gold/gold hw/constrast stitching (well, I had a Kelly in my mind) so I could not say no. Afterwards the orange came out and now I'm not sure.
I think I would get the most use out of both, I have a very neutral wardrobe and live in Milan. They both sing to my heart :biggrin:

I usually wear neutral colors (black/etoupe/beige/grey/navy), especially during fall and winter. I tend to wear pastel/brighter colors in spring/summer paired with white and I live in Milan.

It doesn’t sound as if you can go wrong. But I think something about the orange elevates this very simple bag. I wouldn’t be overly concerned about the hardware if it were me. Personally I feel the bag (leather and colour) always chooses its hardware! Good luck with the decision!
