Please help me decide! Does the condition worth all the hassles?

So I’ve been eyeing on the 21B light purple pearl crush square mini since the end of 2021. There was one available on Fashionphile this past summer, unfortunately I missed it! (So mad at myself!!)

Now I found an overseas seller whom seems to still have one. Their profile photo for the bag was very attractive, so I proceeded to ask for more details for purchasing, including shipping internationally and insurance.

Of course they don’t usually do international shipping, so the shipping part will be more expensive and risky.

Right before I made up my mind arranging for the fund, it just occurred to me to ask for more photos.

Here are the ones I received.

Now I’m doubting if this is still a good decision, not only because of the amount of money I will put in (low $5k; less than $5.5k. I’m in US), but also the risk of shipping due to my recent unlucky experience with DHL (package with a mini 2.55 was marked delivered but I did not received it).

Anyways. Unpleasant experience aside, would you jump in to buy it if this is the condition of the bag?
(I have a 22C lambskin pearl crush rectangular mini and it’s not as puffy as I original thought)

Any opinion is greatly appreciated!
Thank you all so much in advance

Bonus point if anyone could help me overcome my sense of loss over the stolen package… I know buying another bag is a very very bad decision at this time, even though this is the seasonal bag I’ve been wanting :hrmm:

For this one, no.

Honestly if I was determined to have a particular seasonal bag, and could not be satisfied with anything else, this condition would not deter me especially. The side crease is not uncommon even in new mini bags that are not as rigid or reinforced as an older classic, and I am on the minority on TPF that has not experienced marked reduced quality in my bags (from 1990-2020). The indent in the front of the body looks to be from the weight of the flap resting against the bag. If these things bother you, then you should absolutely pass. There is always a chance it might pop up again at Fashionphile.

I would also not buy something from overseas via DHL even if it was fully insured and I was compensated accordingly, if I had just had a recent bad experience. That depends of course upon the circumstances and whether the issues were resolved to my satisfaction.

Good luck with your decision

ETA: most reputable overseas sellers will do international shipping; if they do not do so, I would find that a substantial red flag. JMO and YMMV.

If this was a seasonal bag that was a must have for me, I too do not mind the condition and would take it.

However, earlier this year I had a bad experience with FedEx for an Hermes order, and never received my order. Even though Hermes customer service was lovely (FedEx was terrible) and they full reimbursed me, it (FedEx) left a bad taste in my mouth and I have stopped ordering luxury online and have asked my SAs to no longer ship from stores. If anything I will go to pick it up or if there is no way to obtain the item in person, I will pass. There are always other things to buy. :P
Yet on the flip side, about a month later I ate my own words and did make one exception to buy an Hermes piece that I obviously "had to have" and fortunately that FedEx delivery came through. My thought process was that since Hermes handled my FedEx incident so professionally, if something were to happen again, I would trust them to handle any issues that would arise.

I suppose at the end of the day it depends on how badly you want the item and what risk and potential consequences you are willing to take. Nowadays I just think of the worst case scenario, play it out in my head, and ask myself if that's something I am relatively okay with dealing (not just financially but also emotionally). If not, then no.

Either way, good luck! I hope if not sooner than later you'll get the bag you've been searching for!

The condition looks ok, but you found one in the US at FP once. They didn't make just one or two of these bags so I'd be patient and wait-- find one locally so shipping won't be an issue and if there happens to be a bigger problem with the bag or its condition a return would be easier, too.

I ordered a bag last week from a preloved pace in the UK. I’ve been waiting for this specific bag to pop up on fashionphile for a year and a half it never popped up so I decided to take the chance and order it. I assumed it would be in insured because shipping was $155. Well Friday comes and FedEx says it’s delivered except they didn’t deliver it to my house, they took a photo and it’s the worst photo ever and the doors white and my door is wood and FedEx has not been able to help me they are the absolute worst, this has been a nightmare I don’t know what to do. I’m waiting for the resale place to open a claim on their side because that’s what FedEx said I need to do I don’t know if I should contact PayPal.
I am annoyed that the resale place didn’t have signature required and guess what? The same bag popped up on fashionphile on Friday! I can’t believe it after all this time. I hope I get the bag but it looks bleak, and I don’t want to order another one while monies tied up in case my bag actually comes it’s just kind of a hot mess. I still can’t believe fashionphile got one on Friday after a year and a half of waiting.
In August I did buy a Bag from vestiaire from Japan and it came DHL and it came fast on time. so it’s so hard to know what’s worth the risk. But i will say I’ve had a horrible time with FedEx this year

Thank you all so much for your kind advises and experiences. My head definitely feels clearer now.

After all the hassle and chaos dealing with DHL, it’s definitely defeating and discouraging for me to wait on another international package, even though this bag I’m posting is something I’ve been eyeing on. :hrmm:

But I’d rather sleep peacefully at night rather than pounding on myself over the mistakes made by other people, not to mention the negative emotions came with this kind of financial loss…

That bag is cute, but it’s not for me now.
