I'm looking for an everyday necklace and I think I'm best off getting something in white gold (instead of silver) and have narrowed it down to these two choices. I can get both around the same price - have discount codes for both. I own one of Dana Rebecca's necklaces and am very happy with it and have good experience with Blue Nile as well so it's kind of a toss up. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

My eyes like the blue nile top one better. I went back and forth a couple of times and I like the shape of the star and where the chain attaches on the top one better. It has a bit chubbier star which looks cute. It reminds me of the type of star you imagine when you hear twinkle twinkle.

I love Dana Rebecca's jewelry! I own a few pieces of hers and they all sparkle like crazy and I get tons of compliments on her pieces. I know BN also has very nice quality, but I'd go for Dana Rebecca any day. :)

Another vote for Blue Nile. They're both pretty, but the way the BN one attaches looks nicer to me. Also like the "chubbiness" of the BN star.

I will go with the Blue Nile version at some point in the future but I went in a completely different direction after talking to my husband. I know this is totally unromantic but this is my Christmas gift and he would rather that I have:

so that's what I ordered. It's my first pair of diamond studs. :)

I think that's a great Christmas gift! I'm sure you're going to love them! I have a pair of 1/2 cttw princess cut ones that I wear just about every day. They're the perfect accessory for any outfit.

The earrings arrived and while they seem lovely, I absolutely hate the screw backings. They seem like a complete pain to take on and off. I'm pretty sure I'm going to send them back. :(
Now, my dilemma if they are returned - should I get the 12 mm Elsa Peretti Bean necklace or the Blue Nile star pendant?

ETA - Am I being impatient? They just seem to take so long to put on and off. Maybe I'll get used to them. Did anyone else have this same issue?

I have once lost a push back diamond stud in the shower so I became super paranoid. I now wear a pair of screw back build-your-own earrings from blue nile. I agree with you they take a while to put on and off but they are much more secure.

Back to your first question, how about getting a necklace you like for now and start saving for a pair of custom diamond studs from Blue Nile? That way you will have the option to upgrade if you ever choose to.

MillyT - Yes, I just filled out the return information on-line so they're definitely going back. I played around with them for a while but they're just too time consuming to put on and off (and I don't have the patience). My hair also seems to cover them too much as well so they're not seen as much as I would like.
Now I'm back to the drawing board because I'm debating between the bean and the star necklace and I know the star may be a better value for the $ (since it's 14k gold vs. silver and has diamonds), but I see myself wearing the bean more.
