Hello friends.

I’m itching for a luxury purchase after having to cancel our Italy trip due to the floods. Would love to hear your thoughts if you own any of these, or if there’s a bag you love that I should try! Thank you!

My criteria:

1. Must be neutral and able to flex from casual to more elegant. I don’t like to change out my bags with every outfit, so having a bag that goes with an evening maxi dress or daytime jeans is a must.

2. I miss having a shoulder strap. Most of my bags are crossbody because I love to be hands-free, but I love the grab-and-go versatility of a top handle shoulder satchel.

3. No zipper closures! I don’t know why but I always scratch my hand getting in and out of them.

4. Under $3k.

5. Must be a classic or reissue or archive of some sort because my pet peeve are trendy investments.

Loewe Flamenco — It ticks almost all the boxes and I keep coming back to this bag. But, I have it already in the larger size and color. I love that it’s minimal but not in a trendy way. My heart wants to collect another size but my AmEx/closet says that’s silly.

Prada Cleo — I tried it on a few years ago and also keep coming back to it, telling myself it will be outdated next season and I’ll regret it. But here I am.

Loewe Paseo Satchel — I love it but something about it feels really modern or trendy. Maybe that’s just from the marketing.

Gucci 1955 — Adore. But feels very similar to my Marni Trunk which is very stiff and boxy.

I like the mini flamenco most among the bags you’re considering. I think it works for day to night as a clutch or you can attach a chain strap. The leather is smooth, luxe and durable. Its also lightweight which I love. The paseo looks just meh imo. The Prada bag is cute, but I personally prefer soft leather bags. I like the Gucci horsebit but it weighs more than the other options.

I really love the puzzle bag and a mini puzzle would transition well from day to night. hope This helps!

None of these bags scream evening to me, chain bags are better transitioning from one to the other

IMO. The 1955 is by far the smartest bag, it's twice the bag of the others (obviously I am biased since I have one) however, it's not really long enough for a proper crossbody on the longest hole (even though I wear mine as such) nor a handheld on the shortest. You need the 1955 Mini or the slightly softer 1955 shoulder which are both proper cross-bodies.

I have both, the mini and the "normal" Flamenco clutch, and I love both so much! I'm a Flamenco-fan!! The leather is divine, it's lightweight, easy to go in and out, secure with the magnetic clasp, and it's very versatile, it goes from day to night IMO. The strap of the Mini is a little short, that's the only con for me.

I like the Paseo satchel too, I will have a look at it at the store, but I think it isn't a bag for a long time, it's trendy.

I have had the GUCCI, but I have sold it because it was too heavy and "bulky" for me.

Good luck for your decision!

This is so helpful, thank you. I almost pulled the trigger on the Gucci online but I’m glad I read your comment first. I ended up buying the Flamenco mini in the angora color.

I was hoping you’d chime in! It was your early review of the 1955 that piqued my interest. May I ask which color you have?

You're welcome! I think that's a good choice! I can't wait to see pics of it! :-)

If you like to wear the Mini Flamenco for more elegant evenings, maybe you can buy later a donut chain for it. It makes the bag very special and a little luxuryous
