I bought a brand new Cartier panthère watch directly from Cartier and within 2 weeks the time was already off a couple of hours. I had to reset the time twice and in both incidences after a few days later the time would be wrong again by a couple hours. I took the watch back to Cartier and they checked the watch with their in store machine. They said nothing was wrong with the watch according to the machine’s results and suggested that maybe I didn’t push the crown back in hard enough, thus the watch was losing time? Even though the time was originally set by a Cartier employee.. They helped me set the time again, and told me to wear it for a few days and see if it loses time again. I checked the time everyday that week and it was fine. After a week I would check it here and there to make sure it’s still telling time correct. Almost a month goes by and everything was fine until today when I realized the watch was off by around 5 hours…. I will be going back to store to have them ship it off to get it properly examined. However, I’m worried they will just tell me nothing is wrong again.
Has anyone come across a similar situation with their Cartier quartz watch or have any idea what could be wrong with the watch? What should I do in this scenario? Should I demand for an exchange? (I’ve asked the first visit and they pretty much declined and put the blame on me as user error or that the first employee didn’t set the time properly). Please keep in mind I live a very inactive lifestyle so there’s zero chance the crown has gotten lose from normal wear. I am so so disheartened to spend so much on a timepiece only to have it be a massive a headache and constant worry for the last two months. I feel like Cartier has sold me a faulty watch... I’ve had the watch for less than 3 months and the watch has already lost time on multiple occasions. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated 😭
