Goodness gracious! I feel like a very lucky girl and want to share some eye candy and a story with you all. A few weeks ago I lost an auction for my "holy-grail" Le Dix bag that I've never seen before, but looked just like something I would wear often...long strap, flat-bottom construction, flowing tassels... nice ;o) The leather looked fantastic, wrinkle distressed and still glossy.

There were some bids and I set up a bid to go at the last seconds. The day the auction was ending, I thought about increasing my bid, but seconded guessed that decision and just left it alone. Not surprisingly I lost as the 2nd highest bidder...but not the winner and was very upset I didn't increase my bid when I thought I should.

So I asked the seller if they would pass along my email to the winner in case they ever didn't want to keep the bag, I was ready to buy it immediately. I have no idea if they passed that on, but I thought...you know, I probably "know" the winner...Balenciaga collecting is a small world thanks to the Internet and this awesome forum it would likely be one of our lovely PFers. I looked at the scrambled user name and noticed there was tons of great feedback and I thought of a few people I know are Balenciaga collectors.

I did a search on eBay and lo and behold, my first guess was correct, so I emailed her through eBay and told her how I was the 2nd highest bidder and would love to buy the bag if the chance ever occurred. She mentioned multiple collectors had requested to purchase it as well, but since I was the 2nd highest bidder, she'd sell it to me. Now you can just believe my happiness and elation that I'll get to add this Le Dix into my Gold Tag family.

The Flat Brass bags are my #1 favorites and nothing is as rare and special as the first edition bags with the gold-stamped Le Dix tags inside.

Without any further a do, here is my "Twin" bag that looks like the baby of my S/S '02 Black Whipstitch Tote (mommy) S/S '02 Black FB Hobo (daddy) LOL!

Leave it up to you to find the most gorg and most rare goodies, ever! My goodness, what a great story. Glad she could make her way "home" to you, Corey. Did you get a chance to give her a whirl yet? It was just Saturday, last night afterall.

An epic story.
Intrigue, passion, the hunt, heartbreaking loss and finally....redemption.
From the depths of despair you have plucked the feathers of victory. (which is great for you but not so great for the chicken)
That kind of sleuthing, determination and sheer cunning is heroic. No wonder you are the goddess of rare Balenciagas. If there was any question before of your right to the throne, this has laid that question to rest, permanently.

(can you find me a nice red purse?)

ummmm, now that I think about this you do have a genuine competitor......it's the tPF giant that got this bag off ebay in the first place.
Who could that be? Hummmm. Corey will never divulge a name...I know, I've tried.
Who on this forum is an avid oldies collector? And a big spender?
2 of them are right above this post, beauxgoris and cbarrus,( and a few others now that I go back) so that rules all of them out.
I was thinking CJ and then it hit me......Tokyo. It could be her.
Anyone up for a guess?

Geeez .. I must need a telescope now, it passed right past me (so, nope - wasn't me); the "mystery" continues ...

GREAT SCORE Corey ... WOOP-WOOP :yahoo::tup::happydance:!! It's such a great feeling when this happens!

^^^ You crack me up Maxxout! Thank you for your kind words and I hope a S/S '04 True Red Purse pops out of someone's closet for you, the Red w/ Pewter Hardware is one of the best combos ever! Or a gorgeous '05 Rouge Theatre or even a '06 Rouge Vif in the Purse style...those are all really great reds!! The "Purse" is your bag!

: that's such a nice compliment, thank you very much! I completely agree the early bags are super special.

CeeJay: I know it's an interesting "find" that I think was handmade in Spain like Nicolas mentioned in an article about the motorcycle/lariat bag. The roller coaster of emotions made the happy ending that much sweeter.

mere girl: thank you, exactly *fate* ;o)

REREsaurus: I am thrilled to have this bag in my collection. I just put my stuff in it, so now it's official

Thanks, Susan Lee, I agree, this is a good style as it's both practical and pretty.

lovelygarments a big Thank You and I'm so glad to be able to take this bag out for some more good times...I think that's what she's use too anyways...the leather feels soo goood, it's like ecstasy!! ;o)

Thanks also to: kiwishopper, vikianderson, beauxgoris and cbarrus for your compliments.

You mean no clothes might have been a possibility?
