Plastic surgery in Korea as a Caucasian woman?

Is is a bad idea to get a jaw & chin surgery in Korea if you are Caucasian? I know Asian Americans often get recommended to go to Korea for rhinoplasty because surgeons there have more experience with Asian noses, so I wonder if that also implies that people of European or African descent are better off getting surgeries in their own countries instead of Korea.

I wonder the same.
I want to get aquare jaw surgery but I'm just looking for a smaller and narrower face, not a V line that would look super unnatural on me... plus I actually like my cheekbones.
So I'm not sure in korean doctors listen to you when you ask for something that isn't exactly the korean beauty standard?

I've thought about this too... I live in Japan and depending on what the ENT tells me about my nose/breathing issues I may end up going for rhinoplasty in addition to septoplasty or whatever. But being white I feel like I might have to go to a country with doctors that have more experience with people with similar structure...

I'm not sure how much of a difference it'd make for jaws, though?

Last year, I went to several hospitals to consult about facial contours and rhinoplasty. Actually, it seems to depend on how I say it. I am pretty much exactly what I want. That's why it felt like the doctors understood the shape I wanted.

Hi! What clinic did you end up going to for FC? And did you feel like doctors where willing to give you what you wanted? thankss

Hi! I actually just went to Korea this last December (2020) to get a rhinoplasty at JW clinic. I'm also caucasian and was a little worried about whether or not any Korean clinics could give me the look I desired, since my nose was so bulbous and a much different shape than a typical Korean nose. The clinic I had originally planned to go to in Boston had told me that the nose shape I wanted (smaller tip, lowered bridge, possible nasal reduction and fixed deviated septum) was too hard to do. They could do it, but the surgeon explicitly told me that she probably couldn't make my large, round nose as small as I had wanted it to be.

So, I did some research and found out that there are much better surgeons all over the world (often cheaper than the US). I actually got the idea to go to Korea from this site. I learned that there are numerous surgery clinics in Seoul alone to choose from but some popularized clinics include large names like JW clinic, JK clinic, View, etc. (Btw, smaller clinics can be sketchy so do proper research). I decided to go with JW clinic after hearing about the popular surgeon, Man Koon Suh. He has really great reviews and world-class awards, so I had a feeling that he could actually meet my standards.

I had an online consultation with Dr. Suh in mid-December, and immediately knew that I had found the perfect clinic and surgeon. Unlike the clinic in Boston, he guaranteed that the look I wanted for my nose could be achieved. I sent him some reference photos, and he confidently assured me that he was able to do the procedure to meet my goals.

I had surgery later that month after my 2 week quarantine, and I'm now almost 2 months post-surgery. I can happily say that i'm OBSESSED with my new nose! It's so much smaller, symmetrical, and everything that I could have hoped for (and it's not even fully de-swollen!!). Dr.Suh gave me the exact nose that I had shown him in reference photos. He is incredibly skilled!!

The staff at JW were also amazing to me. The surgery price graciously included English translation throughout my surgery, post care like hair washes and de-swelling, pumpkin juice and medication, and great communication by my consultant Emily

I can't stress enough how good JW is!! I saved so much money by going to Korea and got way better surgery / post-surgery care than I would have gotten in the US in my opinion.

That's great! May I ask how your breathing is?

I have a deviated septum and am having issues with my nose. I'm going to check in with an ENT but I'm wondering if I might need to go ahead with a septorhinoplasty (figure might as well fix the shape while I'm at it). I live in Japan so if I could stay in the area that'd be more convenient.

Did you hear of other white people going to him before you went or just that you liked his rhinoplasty in general?

Also how did you get the price under $5,000?? On here everyone said that it's one of the most expensive places and it's normally around $10,000.

Thanks! For reference, I was going to pay 10,000 USD at the clinic in Boston, and got my surgery at JW for less than half the price. Including airfare and my airbnb, it was still way cheaper than what I would have gotten here in the US.

omg that so cheap!! did you negotiate? with flight, quarantine, and airbnb expenses alone it looks like it would cost me $3k already. did you happen to get local price instead of foreigner price, assuming yours was 2~3k for rhino?

My breathing so far is a lot better! I'm still a bit stuffy since it's only been about 2 months, but I can already periodically breathe better during the day (I have allergies and stuff haha).

Before choosing Dr.Suh, I actually saw a Russian blogger post about getting her rhinoplasty with him and I was amazed by the results. I knew he was talented, but it was soooo reassuring to see he could work with caucasian/Western noses. Like he can literally work with ANY nose type! Here's the blog for reference: I highly, highly recommend watching their youtube channel and reading real story blogs.

For the price, I'm kind of estimating the total with air bnb added to flight and the procedure (minus some good old Seoul shopping haha) but the legitimate price for my surgery was less than half of my originally Boston price (10k). I did offer to let them use the before and after pics they took of me for their website (not actual modeling just the ones people click to see different nose type results). Overall, really depends on what you're getting, but I can say that Dr.Suh would honestly be worth a lot more than I paid.

I honestly don't know how JW prices; I know some clinics make foreigners pay more, but all I can say is to really speak with them before you judge or assume you'll get the same (or different) pricing as anyone on here. Let them know you're paying x amount just to get there (and for me I had the expenses of the 2 week quarantine as well). They empathize and are so, so sweet about helping you find accommodations and picking you up with taxis. I can't say for sure how much it will all cost you, but I can say that my personal experience would have been worth soooo much more than I actually paid!!

I'm a caucasian woman and I had dozens of procedures here including jaw and chin surgery! I'd say, if you are planning to get face contour, be VERY specific about what you want with the doctor. I told the doctor I wanted to keep an angle on my jaw (rather than doing the asian style vline) and he did that well, but I was not very specific about how I wanted my chin and he cut it way too short in Asian style. Make sure you have tons of pictures to show and that you stress exactly what you want and you will be fine.
