Hi all,

I’ve been wanting a pink Chanel mini bag for a while now and it’s always been tough to find anything in the boutiques! However last week I managed to see a few (as well as WOCs) and ended up purchasing a mini top handle in pale pink lambskin.

It’s a really beautiful bag but I’m starting to wonder if I should take it back and just wait until I manage to find something in caviar (although that might be while) as have read and heard that the lambskin is so delicate and feel I might be too worried to use it and it might not age well, even if I look after it. Also worried about a higher risk of colour transfer as I am petite and would mainly only be able to wear it cross body because the strap can’t be wrapped under the flap, and seems to be too narrow for chain shorteners.

On the other hand though I would try really hard to look after it and the colour just looks so nice in the lambskin.

I know this has all been discussed but would really appreciate any advice! Thanks so much.

I prefer lamb, and find it surprisingly durable. Just make sure your denim and other rtw is color fast ( color transfer is the fault of the garment not the bag, and it could just as easily show in a pressed pebbled leather.

ETA: In the past I’ve owned caviar leather in beige Claire bf I decided I hated BC. (These are now in my moms closet). Caviar leather in a light color can look very sad and tired with little wear, in my own experience, ymmv

Agree with above. Crossbody a light bag over dark clothes and you risk color transfer on both caviar and lamb. I have both but prefer the touch of lamb. As for durability, because I wore them heavily, my caviar bags do show lots of wear! Your bag is really beautiful and I would keep if it suits your lifestyle. But if you already have doubts, maybe wait...?

Thanks so much everyone for the replies, glad to see there is a clear majority and really helpful advice on how they will wear.

I don’t wear denim much and would definitely be careful of clothes but am also determined to figure out ways to shorten the straps to wear it other ways too (have figured out one way but it involves a big twilly bow).

It really is just such a nice bag so am so back and forth but whenever I look at it I change my mind again! Need to just get over the fear of wrecking it. From what I understand also quite rare to find this one too.

JMO in spite of a bag being rare, one wants to be able to wear & enjoy it.
Keep the bag because you love it. That's what counts

Thanks - definitely love it when I look at it but just worried about using it (as soon as my sister saw it she said lambskin was a bad choice so that’s when I started to worry!!) when I saw it at the store it was definitely the best one by far from the pink options

If you love it, get it and WEAR it!!
A year ago, I had a brand new pink caviar Woc and learned the hard way wearing it to the ACMs with a black suede dress :hrmm:
This is after 20 years of collecting Chanel and reading endless threads all over tPF about color transfer!
The strap and back of bag had color transfer all over it 😢😢 I'll never make the mistake again. I can't wash a suede dress, but everything else I buy is laundered first, and I won't wear light colors with very dark rinses any more.
It was caviar, no skin is immune to a bad decision like I made lol

I worry more about dirty hands seeing up the handle tbh.

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear this! I guess you can’t control what happens in any case and you have to just enjoy it. Thanks so much for the help :)

I am considering this bag… pls let me know how you like it so far! I currently own a black top handle also and love wearing the bag, my biggest complaint is the strap being thinner than the regular mini also it being long…
