Personal Training for Women - Self Defense

  1. Gotham Jiu Jitsu is offering a self defense session(s) for women who are interested in learning how to defend themselves.

    In this class you will learn the basics of self-defense - which include basic skills such as blocking, striking, defense aganist punches, escapes from grabs and even ground defense. These classes are designed with you in mind. Please feel free to ask whatever questions you may have.

    This class can be taught on the grass (weather permitting), home, or your own fitness facility, so be prepared to get down and dirty, as fighting is. There is no uniforms and no formal structure. You are there to learn, not to be babied. Your classes will be taught by a second degree black belt in the American Jiu Jitsu Federation.

    It's perfect for the busy New Yorker looking to increase personal safety while getting a fantastic workout. Jiu Jitsu includes cardiovascular and strength moves, making it an all-around workout. Speed, flexibility, and coordination and endurance all improve.

    There are no rules in street self defense. You are taught to use natural reflexes and to take advantage of any resource within reach. By adapting a more street combat attitude, students are taught to use an attacker's at vulnerable points such as back of the neck, eyes, throat, knees and groin. Any tool, any trick, any move considered 'dirty' in sport combat is encouraged here for true personal self defense. On top of that, students are taught to recognize their own personal strengths and to be ready to use them at any moment. This discipline results not only in improved safety, but also in increased self-awareness.
