I was hoping for some help from the wonderful people on this forum; DH decided to gift me a present for the birth of our beautiful son and I'm torn between the tank anglaise ( mid size) and the ballon bleu (36) .

I love them both and they both look good on my wrist ( I have a petit wrist) and I would get either model in gold/Ss combo. My question is what are the perceptions on both watches??

Here is a brief summary on my style- I'm early 30s and would wear this watch predominantly at work but also for drinks/ social occasions on going out.

I pride myself on being fashionable but want the watch to stand the test of time and keep its value... I tend to like sporty/ masculine watches but want the watch to be elegant as well.

This is my first splurge on a watch so any help is appreciated!!

Reading your post, I come down more in favour of the BB than the anglaise but it's difficult to put into words why exactly. I like most of Cartier's designs and have admired the Tank Anglaise but when I think of the BB, it's classic and feminine and for some reason has more 'presence'. The variations on the 'tank' theme don't enthral me quite as much. (Not knocking the tank design for one moment, I have a SS/YG Tank Francais and adore it :D)

Have you had a chance to go into a store and try these on? Maybe post some modelling pics? :smile1:

Thanks Bitten- I went to a Cartier store last week bu will def return to take pictures! I have more of a tan skin tone and at first favored rose gold with pink face in the BB but it blended with my skin tone hence the switch to yellow/ SS look.

First of all congratulations! You must be so thrilled to have a lovely new baby!

What I've learned with watches over the years is to go with what suits your wrist, hand and body. You'll know when you try them on.

I really really really wanted a classic Cartier Tank. It looks terrible on me! I went with the Tank Francais and it is a much better look for me.

The YG/SS BB is divine, it's one of the rare watch designs that really stands out, if you know what I mean - it's not yet been replicated by other brands so it really stands out as distinctly Cartier

You really need to try them on your arm and take photos and then give yourself a day looking at the photos. I personally prefer the look of the BB over the Tank, but both I think are classic looks that will work.
