people who abuse liberal return policies

I was in line at Costco to return one item. The woman in front of me was returning four expensive items. A Dyson vacuum, a robot vacuum, an LG vacuum and another large box.
Really? who would you buy three vacuums and return all of them? Maybe she tried to sell them and wasn't successful.

She was treated very respectfully. I don't think I would have been so welcoming to her.

Maybe she bougt more than 3 vacuum cleaners for a specific purpose, but these three didn't perform as claimed by the companies? I really hate it when the companies over promise and under deliver! Maybe she only kept the vacuum that worked for her purpose?

Costco does have manufacurers reps do that sometimes.

I'm all for liberal return policies but I think there's a limit to what's reasonable. Some people take unreasonable advantage of costco. I've heard of people returning live Christmas tress after Christmas. And I witnessed someone returning a broken wine glass. I guess it broke too easily.
This woman with the vacuum cleaners was probably getting $1,000 or so back and the company eats it or has to sell the items at a discount? costco doesn't do the open box thing like Best Buy so maybe they return the items to the manufacturer.

apparently if this story is true you can return anything to costco. they do have a time limit, I think, on electronics

Maybe there was a person behind you thinking the same thing of the item you were returning. I've never thought about people in front of me returning things unless they didn't have the paperwork they needed, knowing FULL WELL they'd need it. So I'm stuck behind a dumb person. That's what irritates me, not the returns policy, but the lack of paperwork thing. HUA, 'left it at home' 'my daughter's waiting in the car can't we just do this' etc etc etc.
