I’ve been wanting another pendant necklace to replace the “fake” that Neiman Marcus took back from me. I’m not interested in another single Alhambra though. I have a 10 motif BA and a 20 motif WG MOP so I wear both metals. asked my SA to bring in a Fleurette to try on in white gold. I had tried it on in Milan in rose gold and really liked it. I tried it on and it just felt too insignificant. My SA had me try on the YG pave tow butterfly which I absolutely loved. I was surprised because I had never considered a butterfly. She brought in the small lotus in WG for me to try on Saturday. I know this is a personal decision but I would love some input. The butterfly necklace seems like it’s so expensive compared to the lotus. I would love to hear people’s opinions on the two necklaces.

I am not going to be any help: buy BOTH! I agree the two butterfly is overpriced but gorgeous and would look lovely stacked with your 10 motif. Likewise the Lotus would look great stacked with your 20 motif. The good news is that if you love both, you won’t make a bad decision. So then it just comes down to budget and what you feel the most comfortable with. Good luck!

The lotus is beautiful. I’ve considered it myself. But I think it doesn’t fit as many occassions as the butterfly. The butterfly is straight up happy-making and quintessentially VCA. So if I had to choose I would pick the butterfly if it goes with your vibe. Lotus would come after if I still wanted it after wearing the butterfly.

Also, I hate to throw this in there, but when I was in a similar situation (looking for a stacking smaller pendant), I tried on the pave two butterfly pendant, as well as the VA pave pendant and the turquoise two butterfly and of those I liked the pave two butterfly best, but then she brought out the 3 flower mini frivole pendant and I fell in love with it. For the price of the pave two butterfly, you could get both the 3 flower mini AND the lotus, just saying.

I love both, but agree the butterfly is more wearable.

I do have a question though- why is this pendant referred to the “two butterflies ” collection? The btf rings and earrings obviously have two butterflies, but the pendant has one. Not sure why I haven’t asked the SA’s, it’s just something I always forget to ask and then it pops up and gnaws at me.

Depends on which one makes you never want to take it off 🤔. From my experience, yellow gold with diamonds stands out and sparkles the most from Van Cleef. White gold and diamonds from VCA look beautiful when new, but the white gold turns stainless steel like after a while since it is 18k wg, it would look darker. I would go for the butterfly as I love contrast.

I have had my WG pieces for many years and none look like stainless steel. And given that the lotus is a pave piece, scratches are even harder if not impossible to see. Do your WG pieces look like stainless steel? Can you share a pic? Have you considered getting them replated if you are not happy with them after too much wear?

The little diamond next to the main pendant is supposed to be another butterfly in the distance.

You can’t go wrong with either - maybe I like the butterfly more than lotus, but I think the butterfly doesn’t show to its best in full pave, I think there needs to be contrast between wings and body. The lotus is stunning.

Thanks all. This is a good problem to have. I know I loved the butterfly pendant. I guess I need to see how I feel with the Lotus. It’s amazing to me how I always seem to end up with something besides what I originally intended. Certain pieces just speak to me.
