Pebbled leather scout hobo - defect!?

I recently purchased my first Coach bag - a Scout Hobo in pebbled leather in stone.

I’ve noticed the grain of the pebbling is slightly deeper/more prominent on the front of the bag than the back. The back has a smoother pebble effect.

Is this part of the design/normal for Coach?

That sounds like it is two different cuts of leather used from different cows. It happens at times. If it bothers you, can you exchange it for a different one? (Not certain where you bought it) It isn't a defect, it is a natural thing as different cows have different hides.
