Pearl lovers, help me out!

So, the pearl fever finally got to me and I've fallen so hard, it's not even funny anymore. I've been doing some research and am considering to buy a pearl strand (or a set). But I am not sure about Akoya vs. South Sea. I'd love a white south sea (may be golden in distant future ), but want to know what your thoughts are. I know they can be crazy expensive, so really needing your help here.

I know Akoya pearls are more famous, so can all you beautiful people who own Akoya/South sea pearls let me know your thoughts and preference? Any advice is welcome . Would love to see pics too. Thanks in advance!

I own both & love both. Akoya are more versatile & go with everything from jeans to evening wear. SS are more dressy, IMO, due to their size. The best advise I can give you is to buy the best quality pearl you can afford. As for SS pearls, I, personally, prefer the Paspaley SS because their luster is incredible. It really depends on what you will feel looks best on you & what style pearl jewelry you want. I would love to see pictures of what you finally decide on.

i'd vote for SSP. i think bigger pearls can be worn for whatever occasion, but smaller ones may not look as dressy for formal events. imo, Paspaley has great white/off-white pearls, but if your skintone calls for a golden hue the go for Jewelmer. Black tahitians never looked on me, so i can't recommend them.

Go with the best that you can afford. I like and have both Akoya and SSP, and they both have their place. Just depends on how big you are looking to go and what occasions you will be wearing it.
