A friend wants to know the answer to this:

If someone purchases an item from you, then whines about the item not being in the 'condition' promised, would Paypal automatically refund money to them? Especially if it's in the buyer's favor? What if they didn't return the item to you? Would Paypal 'ask' the buyer to return the item?

...Paypal automatically refund money to them? No
... Especially if it's in the buyer's favor? no

Paypal will hold the funds in question from the seller until the return is confirmed (with a tracking#). The buyer then receives the refund.

Paypal don't rule on quality. But if the buyer proves (by tracking number) that an order has been returned, Paypal will fully reverse the money.

It happens in the condition that the buy has filed a complaint case on Paypal.
