I've been in the habit of checking Paula's Choice (mostly for her comments on ingredients) and Makeupalley for product reviews. Today I went to look at Paula's Choice and apparently it's totally changed. Where she used to review all kinds of makeup and skin care products including her own, now she just has her own products and an ingredient checker. I didn't try that but apparently you copy and past ingredients into it and it gives you some information.
This is annoying. She started out just reviewing, then added her own products and now it's basically all about her products.

and I tried the ingredients tool....I guess it is somewhat helpful but it just give each ingredient a grade....nothing on the overall combination of ingredients

correction - it does give you a pie chart showing what percent of ingredients is good/best, etc.
but no narrative

I used to check out reviews for skin products several years ago on that site and it was great. Shame they got out of the reviewing business but I can understand where it would be a conflict of interest. Nobody would believe they would give anything but top marks for their own products.

Realistically she makes money selling products she makes herself. Nobody was paying her to do reviews.

agree - she isn't going to give anything but a positive review on her products....but she also gave positive reviews on others
She must have made some money other than selling her products (from advertising) but I guess maybe she is now selling enough to get out of the review business

I used her moisturizer for awhile and I liked it. I never stick with any product more than a couple of years though. Always looking for that next amazing skin potion! :biggrin:
