Does anyone have a patent leather bag? I love the concept and look of it, but worry about how easily patent leather scuffs. Would love to hear your experience.

And even if you don't own one, what do you think of them? Thanks!

To me scuffing isn't the biggest concern with patent leather - it's colour transfer and discolouration. And depending on your climate, patent risks becoming sticky and unusable.

I've had a few patent bags throughout the years but have sold all of them except one - a Chanel red patent WOC that I bought myself as a gift for graduation. I don't like dealing with fingerprints and being scared of putting it on surfaces which could transfer permanently onto the patent. I also find patent a bit showy for every day use.

I think they're gorgeous, and are good for rainy weather, but in the long term, they don't last as long as regular calf/lambskin/etc.

Thank you for the information @karman I hadn't even thought of discoloration since the bag I want is black. As you say, it is showy for everyday wear.
The last patent bag I sold was a crinkled black patent Chanel flap... I really liked it, but it was just so dressy. And the fingerprints still drove me nuts!
