Travel PARIS tips - questions - advice!

Im planning a trip to Paris this December and I was wondering if anyone here has had any experiences with hotels. Ive been considering the Four Seasons Hotel George V since the reviews are excellent for it. However, the price tag is pretty steep, even for the Four Seasons:blink: . Has anyone stayed there? Is it worth the 600 Euro a night price tag  ??
If you have had positve experiences at other hotels, please let me know as well.
Thanks in Advance

The Ibis Montmarte hotel is a pretty decent hotel -- at Euros 83.50 (with breakfast)! It's near Sacre Cur and a few train rides away from Arche de triomphe, etc.

The money I saved from the hotel bill, I put to good use -- 'ended up buying 2 bags -- 1 goyard fidji hobo and an LV Speedy 35!

But it really depends on what you want/expect in a hotel. If you just want a decent place to 'crash' after shopping/seeing the Paris sights or if you want to experience the whole luxury vacation thing  Obviously, I chose the former and I have no regrets (will do it again in a heartbeat, if it would mean being able to have more $$$ for bags!)

Good luck!

There are many great hotels for less money. Here are some good links for you to try:

HÔTEL À La VILLA des ARTISTES 9 rue de la Grande Chaumière, 75006,
http://www.villa-artistes.com/

HÔTEL ARAMIS SAINT GERMAIN 124 Rue de Rennes,
http://www.hotel-aramis.com/

HÔTEL LOUVRE PIÉMONT 22 Rue de Richelieu, 75001, http://www.paris-hotel-louvre-piemont.com/

Of the three, the Hôtel Louvre Piemont (formerly Hotel du Piémont), will have the most convenient location for strolling/walking to more sites and attractions. It is located along the western side of Palais Royal.

Both the Aramis Saint Germain and La Villa des Artistes, will be located in pleasant neighborhoods, just below Jardin du Luxembourg and have convenient access to Metro line, they will be a farther walk /stroll north to the Seine.

If you want to get some idea of what these neighborhoods 'look' like, you can use the PHOTOS de VILLE feature of the PagesJaunes web site (below) to take an electronic 'stroll' through the streets and neighborhoods in photos, at--

Um, yah...it is sooooo worth it....if you are looking for like that but perhaps a bit more "quaint" shall we say, check out the Bristol.it is a palace, I am often there for tea...I love that place, it is just a little less pretentious in my opinion (but, perhaps more expensive?) http://www.hotel-bristol.com it isn't uncommon to run into Christian LaCroix having tea there too since it is directly across the street from his atelier, or sharing a dinner with Bruce Willis...who always stays there when he comes to Paris...I love Hotel le Bristol...but, who can forget the Ritz? http://www.ritzparis.com I find it surprisingly charming. Not nearly as glitzy as you would think (it is worth a night there just for the use of that swimming pool!) ...the history! Hemmingway, Channel! TOTALLY worth it...hey, it's only money, right? and lastly, I would recommend the Crillon http://www.crillon.com if you get a room facing Concord square, the view will take your breath away....

I promise, you won't be disappointed in any of these fine establishments...and, with time, the memory of your stay will make you forget all about the price tag...

Just get dolled up, get into the spirit of the thing...(please don't do that white tennis shoes and fanny pack thing...it is insulting to the surroundings....(I am sure you would NEVER do that.. this is just a request to those who might be tempted....

You know…when you mention December, it makes me think you might really appreciate that view from the Crillon…it overlooks the Champs Elysees which is so beautiful at Christmas time…

Have a great trip!

The first two are in my neighbourhood...I love it=))))

I think it depends if you are looking for more of a Kerry Bradshaw hotel experience (I think that was actually the George V???) Not sure...or a more down to earth Paris...still incredibly elegant...but in a smaller more quaintish way=)...

when i went to paris last time i stayed at the Ritz....i am usually that kind of girl that doesn't care about hotels and things like that, but the company i work for was paying...you know....
that was just a dream, beautiful place, delicious food and one of the most beautiful cities ever!!!

Most French hotels are small. The rooms are smaller too, unless you stay at the Ritz, George 5th or Athenee. I have heard mixed reviews from friends about those places in terms of price vs. experience. I have been to Paris many times and IMO the smaller hotels are a better value, and it leaves more $$ for shopping. What with the weak dollar these days, we need all the help we can get.
