March 2009:

Miu Miu opened it's first store on Oahu, Hawaii, in the Ala Moana Shopping center. To celebrate, Miu Miu created a Hawaii Exclusive bag, but only made 50 of them! Paris Hilton was seen in Hawaii with her new boyfriend, and was tagged as sporting her new, 1-in-50 (in the WORLD) Miu Miu bag.

Another famous star, Ito Yuna, a Hawaii-born Japanese model/actress/singer was also seen wearing the bag.

Locals and tourists have been searching high and low to get their hands on one, reportedly paying as much as $15,000 to private sellers! I want one, but not for $15,000! anyone got the hook-ups?

It's a younger style, similar to the darker-cute styles seen at Mac, or even mature Hello Kitty products. The leather is SO SOFT, with a special tag on the inside denoting that it's an exclusive, limited edition bag for Hawaii. I think it's popular among the young adult females because the dark, soft leather gives it a mature look, while the overlapping pink leather "x"'s give it a "youthful" look. Needless to say it's energetic, and playful style may not be as appealing to the older audience. Regardless, with the exposure to Paris Hilton and Ito Yuna, and the limited quantity, this is sure to be a collector's item.

Probably the overriding factor is the limited availability, and the appeal that comes from the magic words, 'Hawaii'. And I agree...$15,000 is...obsessive, but most collectors are. If I had the money to blow, $15,000 for a bag that only 49 other people in the world have, which includes Paris Hilton and Ito Yuna AND is exclusive to Hawaii (a tropical paradise for the wealthy!)...seems hefty, but a perk of being rich. Man I wish I was rich.
