Hi! I’m in LOVE with the small Panthere gold watch with diamonds but am hesitant about spending $26,000 usd for it. For those who have it, any regrets? Should I purchase it or pass and spend the money on other bags/jewelry? It is a lot for quartz movement. I could justify the price more so if it was mechanical movement. For preference, I have YG love bracelet, YG JUC with diamonds, YG small JUC ring, and YG love wedding band. Thank you! It looks perfect on your wrist!

Do you currently have a wishlist of bags/jewellery? And do you own any other watches?

If you are at peace with your existing collection of bags/jewellery, then this would be a wonderful addition but if not, I’d think carefully before dropping 26k on this watch (even though it is stunning).

Good question. I have a couple things on my wishlist but they’re all smaller items. I’m pretty satisfied with my current collection. I don’t really venture into seasonal pieces and like to stick with classics. I pretty much only wear black and white haha. I don’t have a watch so this would be my first watch. I’ll have to think long and hard about this one. Thanks for the perspective!

I would recommend you try on as many watches as possible.

I tend to stick with the classics too and when it comes to watches, I would not want more than two in my collection. Even two seems a bit much because you tend to wear your fave the most, right? I like to consider cost per wear as well when making a high end purchase so I would only drop that kind of money for my dream watch.

This is a beautiful watch and is indeed quite expensive for a quartz movement; however, this is par for the course for some ladies Cartier watches. As another poster mentioned, one is really buying a jewelry piece rather than a watch with significant or complex technical movements here. In fact, there are other Cartier ladies watches from other lines that are even more expensive than the Panthere but are also of a quartz movement (see the various ladies Tanks, for example). One isn't generally buying a Cartier at this price for the movement, otherwise, there are many other luxury brand watches with better movements at this price point to look for.

It depends on what you're really looking for when you're looking to buy one dream watch - is the movement a priority for you or are you willing to overlook the fact that it's a quartz movement and prefer the aesthetic look of it instead? The Panthere is an iconic watch for Cartier, hence it being reintroduced for sale, so I don't feel that it matters that it's "just a quartz" watch. It will retain much of its value due to it being a Panthere but what matters is whether this is the one watch you could see yourself wearing over and over through the years and thus feel confident in spending the $26K for it.

Very true. I don’t like the look of a chunky watch on me so I don’t want a Rolex. The only other watch I may consider is the tank louis. The panthere is my dream watch though. I don’t think I would get great cost per wear because I can’t wear that at work in my field. But I could wear it on the weekends. I’ll let it simmer and decide before my birthday!

I think I could see myself wearing this for years to come! My friend told me to consider the gold without diamonds for better cost of wear but I just love the extra sparkle. It’s gorgeous! I’m starting to accept the fact that it is a quartz watch. You’re right, I’d buy it more for the aesthetic purpose as a piece of jewelry rather than the movement inside.

sounds like you're in love with the one with the diamonds and it's beautiful on you. but w/o diamonds in addition to being lower in price, it would be more understated. I don't know what your lifestyle is - whether you have any concerns about being "overdressed" at work, having anyone be jealous of your things, being a target of theft.

Has anyone purchased this watch preloved? I see some on the market but they are about 20-30 years old and going for about $15k. Does it show scratches and wear? I assume Cartier can polish and service the movement. I would love some insight whether I should consider this preloved and your experience. Thank you!

It’s beautiful and looks beautiful on YOU! I think if you decide you’re going to go for it, I’d get the one you like the best (diamond vs plain). The difference between them is $4000. It’s a very expensive purchase either way. If you spend $21,600 on the plain when it was really the diamond bezel you preferred, you didn’t impact the cost per wear by that much and have ended up with a very expensive watch that you liked second best.

Yes, I love the one with diamonds. I’m debating whether I should purchase this new or preloved. It is a beautiful piece!
