Hi all,

I have a 1.39 brilliant cut Tiffany & Co. solitaire set in platinum. This past weekend I found a stunning 2.20 TCW, 18k gold T & Co, estate eternity band. The setting is the older bar set style. The width is 3 mm. The stones are graded as F, VS1 and the fire is amazing! Has any one paired a platinum ring with an 18k yellow gold wedding band? If so, what are your thoughts? I have heard some people say that it is not recommended but my SA at Tiffany's said it would be fine. The classic Tiffany solitaire is set so high that it works with just about any Tiffany wedding band.

I am obsessed with this band!!! Please share any knowledge you have on mixing metal. Thanks in advance.

Here it is with my ring which is really dirty and needs to go to Tiffany's for a cleaning!

What a find! This is my absolute favourite setting for eternities, though if you'd prefer it in platinum you can check out Harry Winston or Gemlok. They also carry the same barset style new (which is patented, so Tiffany doesn't carry it anymore since they don't work with Gemlok anymore).

Or if you keep looking around, you may find an estate Tiffany barset in platinum (I have one, you can see it in this thread), though it may be a long wait for your exact size!

It should be fine to mix the metals though, the settings are rounded where they touch and shouldn't jeopardize the integrity of either ring.

Very excited for you! It's so comfy and wearable and sparkly. :)

Mixing metals is totally in style . . . I worked at Tiffany for 24 years and have a nice little collection . . . I've always mixed metals. It keeps your accessories interesting! And WHAT A FIND! Congratlations!

Thank you! I didn’t know if the gold would harm the platinum or vice versa but the bar setting is so low that the prongs do not touch.

How fabulous that you worked at Tiffany’s all those years! I can only imagine how amazing your collection is!

I don't think you have to worry about the gold and platinum harming each other. Wear them in good health!
