OT: Video iPod help

I recently purchased a used video iPod. It has a boatload of pictures on it from the previous owner .

Does anyone know how to delete these?

When you sync your new iPod with your iTunes library, you should go into "iPod Preferences" and select sync with (the photo album of your choice). It will tell you that if you sync with this photo folder, the photos on the iPod will be erased. Select "yes" and proceed.
