I just bought the classic flap in medium in black caviar. what I can't figure out is what its origin is. It isn't the original 2.55 but it's the one that never changes right? so when was it first designed? anyone out there know this sort of detail??

It was first designed in February of 1955 that where the # 2.55 comes from.
There was a thread on here a month ago I think it was, talking about the origins of this bag....one of the pockets was designed so she could put her love letters in them or something like that...you can try doing a seach here...

The current Classic flap bag wasn't designed in February 1955 (2.55), the bag that was designed then was what the 2005 re-issue of it looks like...different lock, proportions etc. So what I'm puzzled about is when the current Classic flap design was first issued. Thinkin' caps on gals!
