Hi,

Does anyone know of any good organic dog treats that I can purchase online? We used to give our dog the jerky strips but since all of the recalls have stopped giving him things made in China. I found some at Whole Foods that said Organic but they were made in China so i'm not taking the chance. He's also allergic to wheat! Any cute dog treat places that you can think of would be great!

I bake my own biscuits!

Here's the recipe...

1/3 cup margarine
3 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup powdered skim milk
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp Parmesan cheese (optional)
3/4 cup water - room temp.
1 egg, beaten

In large bowl, cream margarine and flour. Set aside.

In another bowl, dissolve skim milk, garlic powder in water and whisk in egg.

Make a well in flour mixture. Stir in egg mixture and blend well.

Knead dough on a floured surface til easy to work with.

Roll out dough to less than 1/2 inch thickness.

Cut with cookie cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheet.

Bake 50 minutes at 325F

Store at room temp in a container.

Makes about 50 cookies.

I like Innova Evo, I do not believe they are completely organic but they are completely grain free and very good, wholesome, holistic ingredients. I believe petfooddirect.com carries them. That's a pretty good website altogether, check it out. If you do chose to check out Innova make sure you look at their "Evo" line, they have many lines in their brand. I've also used the newans own organic dog treats but I'm pretty sure they have wheat in them. Good luck.

That sounds like a nice recipe, I suppose you could substitute the wheat flour for another, maybe organic brown rice flower.

Yes - I've done that before with... I think it was potato flour one time and rice flour the other..?? The consistency was a bit different, but they baked up fine and the dogs adored them! I wish I could do it all of the time, but there is only one grocery store within a 2 hrs drive... the selection here is dismal, and you have to take what you can get !

Thanks for posting this recipe! I'm going to have to give this a try, and see how my dog likes it.
