Has anyone had experience ordering from Harvey Nichols before? I'm thinking of getting a pair from there but I'm not sure what happens when the shoes reach North America, specifically Canada. Did you have to pay a lot in duties and taxes? I think I've heard that their shipping company partners with Fedex?

I've done a search but didn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated!

HN ships by DPD, which turns into RJJ in the US, not sure what it is in Canada. It is impossible to track online even with the DPD tracking number. In certain states, it does partner with Fedex, and the original DPD tracking becomes Fedex reference number, which is a lot easier to track.

Thanks for the info, Alice! Were you charged duties on your order? Their shipping is more expensive than the boutiques too. I was quoted around 55 pounds to ship to Canada while it was only 40 for the boutique.

I did not have to pay any customs when Fedex delivered the package. However HN declared full value on the customs form, as a matter of fact, they declared the price with VAT minus shipping, which was more than what I was actually charged. My purchase was fairly recent, less than a month ago, so not sure I'd get a bill from DPD/RJJ/Fedex in the mail. Will keep you posted if I do get one.

I'm not certain how they determine shipping charge, if it's tiered by the total of the shipment. I have been quoted all kinds of postages across the EU, they go as high as 75 euros to as low as 30 gbp.

I'm worried now because I actually put through my order. The SA told me they send about 5 or 6 pairs to Canada/US every month and no one has been charged duties. I'm not so sure if that is accurate or not but from what you've said I don't think that will happen with me. And their shipping is higher than what the boutiques would charge me so if I do get charged duties, I would be paying more for shipping + extra duties and taxes. :crybaby:

I guess I took a chance with them because the CL boutique firmly said they would be declaring whatever they charge me.

If the SA told you that no one has been charged customs, then this is most likely true. May I ask which SA is this? My one and only experience with HN has been pleasant, so I'm sure everything will turn out okay for you. Please keep us posted.

thanks for letting me know! was it fedex that delivered your package and did they declare the price you paid on the parcel? and if you don't mind me asking, are you located in the US?

Rdg is from the US. In Australia, HN uses Fedex. HN indicated the full value of the item (including the VAT) so the declared amount is actually higher than what I paid.
