So, the same jeweler that made my lovely necklace is going to make a scattered/etoile type ring for me. I got a little crazy thinking about designing it and started thinking about using multi colored stones instead of just diamonds and then was thinking it might be a little "clown like" if I did that. I love purple so I was going to do diamonds and pink and purple sapphires on a gold or rose gold band in this type of design.

So honest opinions please. Would it be "silly" and would I be better off with a classic gold and diamond band (maybe throw one colored stone in for good luck, haha!):graucho:

I personally think you will tire of the colored theme eventually, so if you're going to get color, I'd stick to ONE color, and maybe just do a few, with the diamonds. But diamonds never get old ;)

I think diamonds with either all pink or all purple sapphires would be beautiful, but not all three :smile1:

I think pink and purple stones would look lovely on a white gold band, cool stones with cool metal. If you wear mostly yellow gold I'd go all diamond or yellow sapphire. For rose gold I'd do diamond.

I think it's nice to have some coloured stones in a jewellery wardrobe! they may not be the most versatile like diamonds but sometimes it's fun to wear some coloured jewellery.

I think pink, purple, and blue would look great in an etoile style or the combo of yellow, orange and a reddish sapphire or ruby would look nice as well!

I would stick with all diamonds but if you have your heart set on adding a color pick just one more to add to the diamonds, not multiple. I think it'll look too busy with three or more colored stones.
