Opinions on cracked canvas

Hey everyone! I just noticed on my speedy 30 there is a dreaded crack by the zipper pull. I bought it back in 2015 but have only carried it sparingly so it’s in very good condition. What would you all do? Is it with a trip to the store (3 hours away) to show them? Or just chalk it up to that’s what happens and carry her til she falls apart completely?

Unfortunately there’s nothing they can do, short of replacing your bag. Sorry that happened to you.

this is my first LV so I’m not really familiar with the customer service. Do you think it’s likely they will replace? I’ve filled out a repair request online. I could see them denying it if the purse was in very used condition. Mine is in great shape and from everything I’ve read, cracked canvas isn’t typical. Do you think I’d have better luck calling my closest boutique and talking to someone there?

Honestly, I would think it’s extremely unlikely. You’ve had it for seven years, so they’re probably going to tell you it’s been stored incorrectly or overstuffed. Canvas can crack at stress points, over years of use. It’s a shame that this has happened to your bag if you haven’t carried it much. It’s worth a shot asking your nearest store, I guess, but they’re not likely to offer to replace a bag unless it’s relatively new and/or it’s a recognised defect. They don’t repair cracked canvas — in fact if I’m not mistaken they won’t repair an item at all if there’s cracked canvas, even if you’re asking for an unrelated repair.

I'm so sorry. I feel you. I just discovered this is a thing. Last night I discovered that Poor Speedy B30 has what look like smoker's lines on both sides of her zipper. I got her in 2014, so I guess that makes her a mature lady. At first, I was shocked and horrified and I was surprised at how many people have shared similar experiences online. Now I'm resigned to the fact that that's just how it is, so we'll continue aging together. I don't mind owning well-loved things; I do love them. But I doubt I will ever buy a new LV canvas bag again. I expected better.
