Hi everyone, I have a regular Nappa charm that I bought to use for work. That might have been a dumb thing to do, since it is made of lambskin, which I think is typically more delicate than calf leather, although my experience with lambskin is that the hardiness varies a lot depending on the brand and finishing.

I used my charm once and it seems a little delicate for work use. My work bag gets carried everyday and needs to hold files, etc., and so it can get quite heavy.

What do you all think? Is this bag too delicate for what I want to use it for? How have your Nappa charms held up? Thanks for your input!

I have two --Ribes and Peonia. I don't use them everyday but typically several days in a row. I'm not rough on my bags but I am tough on them. They get stuffed, put on the ground, shoved in a desk drawer, etc. And so far, both bags have held up really well.

I love my Nappa Charm and I wear it every day without worrying about babying it...I worry more about the coffer and others, the only downside for me is the color, Pervinca (light blue), that's getting dirty because I take it everywhere and put it anywhere...and yes, I use it to go to work...

I hv the Ribes Charm and I carry it everyday... I'm not rough with my bags but I don't baby them. So far it has served me well for 2 months already. But due to this is a destress leather... I try not to give it too much abbration like leaning against the wall with it or dragging it on the floor cos the corners will peel even if it's for the hardiest leather :)

Thanks for the helpful comments! Sounds like the bag will hold up better than I think it will. Like you ladies, I'm not rough on my bags, but I don't want to baby them either.

Perhaps with some conditioner and protectant spray, the bag will do just fine.

butterfly--have you tried protectant spray to guard against dirt? My bag is agave, also light colored. I have a silicon-based spray from Appleguard that I might try.

I haven't tried...I don't want to put anything on my bags for fear of losing the smell...their leather smells is my drug! I am addicted but I think I'll have to stop my addiction because the bag is getting dirty but I put it almost anywhere!

LOL I see there is a new addiction aside from glue sniffing... it's 'leather sniffing'... we get a better high out of it !!:yahoo:

I have pervinca Nappa Charm & use it a lot esp on weekends & carry quite a bit with me(normal stuff like water bottle, makeup pouch, cardi, scarf, wallet). I tend to baby my bag(they don't see floors) but I am not overly careful with them. I spray all my leather bags with water repellent spray before use. My bag is holding out pretty well but I think it would not be able to take a whole lot of weight(like laptop & files) all the time. Not that it's lambskin, more like the hardware do not feel as hardy as my Bal bags which I use more when I need to stash my laptop in.

That's a good point, I agree with pinkboudoir....I have gone out with my pervinca charm WITH my 14 inch laptop in it but it's something i would never do again as I don't feel the bag has enough structure or the hardware doesn't feel that strong to carry such a big laptop...so, my solution to the problem: I ordered me a 10 inch laptop on saturday :D but besides carrying a laptop I put a lot of things in it!

oh yes realbuyerhub: I am completely addicted to the leather smell

I think it depends on what kind of Nappa charm leather you got. Mine is the glazed distress leather so it hold up well. I also have a matelasse boston and it is in matte lambskin, I baby the matte lambskin mroe than my distress leather nappa charm.

Yes matte lambskin definitely need more "babying" ... I agree..

My nappa charm in zaffiro, I used it for university (usual necessities, books, notebooks, folders, and I'm pretty sure I put a laptop in there once) and it's still in great condition! It might need some conditioning, but it still looks brand new..

My friend also used it in university (she had it in fumo) and hers still looks new but this other girl had one in a seafoam green color and the color looked AWFUL at the end of the semester!

So I guess it really depends on the color of the bag or how the person takes care of it? I'm not sure :confused1: but the bag itself won't fall apart :p
