Hi everyone,

I have been going back and forth between wedding bands (I can't currently try on because of the pandemic and our country is in a complete lockdown) so I've been looking online to find the perfect wedding band. Our wedding was cancelled because we can't travel overseas and looking at wedding bands is making me feel less upset about that. Weddings have also been banned here in the UK due to the pandemic.

I have decided between two options. Because the band on my engagement ring (photo attached) is extremely thin, I'm quite limited on the size I can go to for a wedding band.

I've attached pictures of the two bands I am considering and would love people's feedback on how you think they will look together, and if you have something similar, I'd love to see.

Wow firstly, you have an stunning engagement ring!!

If it were up to me, I would choose the thicker band.- Firstly, the look of a thicker wedding band against a thinner band of your engagement ring wouldn't really bother me (especially since your center stone is very sizable). Another consideration is that I may want to take off the engagement ring when I run errands/do household chores, and I would still like to have something sizable on my finger!

Though I may worry about the larger stones fitting properly under the center stone of your engagement ring. Might want to check out if the height of your setting allows for the bigger stones to sit nicely under?

But of course if you don't foresee yourself ever taking off your engagement ring, I think the thinner band would be good too if you're concerned about the "mismatch".

Are you planning to visit the stores that carry those two designs?

Thank you so much!! My fiancee picked it himself. All I told him was the shape I wanted and he went away and chose the setting, diamonds, etc. separately.

I was thinking the exact same thing - I plan to only wear my e-ring part time once I have my wedding ring on.

We're in lockdown until mid-Feb or March, so I will be either visiting stores or buying both online and returning my least favourite.

Thanks so much for your input!!

Beautiful e-ring! Of the options you are considering, I think the thin micro pave would work better than the thicker 2ctw band. The reason being is the thinner band is more likely to sit more flush with your e-ring and may actually slide under the basket of your e-ring a bit. The thicker 2ctw band is likely going to leave a very large gap. Also, I feel the size of the stones in the 2ctw band are not cohesive with your e-ring. That said, I don't love the micro pave band either. It looks a bit too delicate for your e-ring. I'd also be worried about the durability of the micro pave band.

Not sure of your budget or where you are purchasing from, but I believe BlueNile has a UK site and has some options that might work and they have a good return policy. I have the 1/2ctw Riviera eternity ring and it sits very low and is more substantial than the micro pave band you are considering. They have a lot of other options as well. Good luck with your decision!

Your engagement ring is stunning! Though I don't think either of the two options would work really good with your ring, the thin band would look unimportant compared to your engagement ring, kinda off balance. The thicker ring looks great but you might have a problem fitting it under the large stone. I would suggest a ring that is broad but not so chunky, maybe a two or three row pave ring with smaller stones, here is an example, just so you know which style I'm talking about.

Thank you both. I love both of these options!! Thank you for the suggestions  it's so difficult to shop online bc of everywhere being closed, so its nice to see some different styles.

I had the same dilemma when I was getting married and I’ll pass along the advice I received that influenced my choice. Get the thicker one now since it’ll be more special as your wedding band and you can always get a thin band for birthday, push present, etc. I smile at my eternity band every time I wear it but I also love the practicality of my thin band since it easily fits with my e-ring and also looks good on its own when I want to be low key (mine is similar to the blue Nile riviera design and size though). Good luck and best wishes!

Sorry that your dealing with your wedding cancellation (hugs!) But the love between you and your hubby-to-be is the most important thing, and these trials will be long forgotten on your 50th anniversary!

On to bling! I agree with @Felhg advice...the bigger stones would be more proportional with your gorgeous e-ring! But as long as it fits underneath. With your pear e-ring, have you considered a chevron or tiara-style wedding band? I think they look great and have both a chevron and a tiara to go with my oval e-ring. This is an example:

Whichever band you choose be careful of diamond abrasion of the settings. The diamonds in the band should not rest against the ER setting...only metal should contact metal otherwise you risk abrading the mountings and losing a diamond. It can be tricky with the longer shaped diamonds - non-round.

Would you mind giving me more information on your engagement ring? I’m also in the U.K. & looking for the exact same style!!

My husband designed it on Brilliant Earth and it was shipped from the US I believe. I originally tried on a Vera Wang one in Ernest Jones, so he loosely based the design on that; he just wanted a bigger diamond. The specs for the ring are: 1.71ct diamond centre stone, Pear shape, Very Good Cut. G colour, VS1 & 18k White Gold Waverly Setting 1/2cttw

Thank you so much! Does your diamond seem quite big where you are? In my family I think the biggest diamond is about 0.3ct, in my friendship circle most have around 1ct (though my best friend has a 1.75ct solitaire but she is wealthy). I luckily have tiny fingers so I’m hoping to get a look like yours but perhaps getting away with a 1.2ct centre
