I would appreciate your valuable opinion on vintage bags (20 years or more).

1) What are the chances that you’ll send (made of leather/nylon/canvas) bags for repair service knowing that there’s a possibility of not using it after repairing?

2) What would be a reasonable amount to pay for minor/major repair service per bag?

3) Will you prefer to send back to their representative brand (Gucci/Prada/Ferragamo/D&G etc) available at the town/city that you live in or will you rather engage the service from a reputable company? And why?

4) What other complications (not involving authenticity / discontinued hardware parts) that the bag cannot be repaired?

5) Share photos of your vintage bags (if any).

Thank you!

I think reading through the various brand forums and the repair threads will actually give you a lot of good background knowledge, of the brands workmanship, what costs people have had to repair etc. You can't expect a vintage bag to be more likely to break than a new one - its not usually the case. Vintage bags can often be better made and quality than a brands new designs, this has been seen by many of us.
Not sure why you think we would not use a bag after repairing? I will always use.
Repair prices can vary too much. I would always take to local cobbler, we have one of the best in the country here and a couple of other that are also getting amazing at repairs and refurbish.
no. 4? not sure what you are inferring.
If you're looking at your first luxury bag, do the reading as i initially suggested on your favourite brands, get the knowledge to start searching for a preloved if thats your preference, or new.

Some of my vintage pieces
large Dior Gaucho - very hardy thick leather, quite a workhorse, fits laptop and comfortable xbody. I looked closely at leather braid - were they all tight, also no loose threads
Chloe Edith - Again checked for loose threads before purchase - all perfect.
My first Chanel, vintage jumbo, better workmanship, better HW - also no loose stitches.
My first LV's, both epi in leather, they have sticky inside pockets with peeling, not a big deal for me. The stitching started to come undone where the strap joins the bag on the black one191102_4675049959002_1721981072_o.jpg 12522910_1142294152462606_6699900245496735714_n.jpg 54424712_1930673160374701_1272962649369346048_n.jpg 64507465_467895193967367_16968818786041856_n.jpg - its folded over on itself and stitched. So i just restitched it myself with about 1 cm of repair. I also bought green acrylic paint and fixed up the worn green corners myself on the other.

I was trying to clear up one of the bedroom that I’ve been using as storage room. I found 8 vintage bags inside one of the large drawer that Ive totally forgotten about. Like I’ve mentioned those bags were about 20 years or more. Couldn’t find any details of the bags. That’s why I am seeking opinions.

Thanks for the info. Appreciate that!
