Opinion about a first Gucci bag...is this one good?

I own a variety of bags from high end to no name brands, but no Gucci. I would really like to buy a nice Gucci bag. A few months ago I almost bought an Emily guccissima shoulder bag but the order was cancelled by the store for some reason. I was refunded. I am looking for something casual or everyday (I don't carry a lot) but can be dressed up if I need to. I keep coming back to this bag. I really like it but for some reason i don't feel it is perfect. But I keep coming back to it over and over again. Can this work for special occasion too? Is the GG too big? Thanks

Special occasion? Yes absolutely

Big logo? It's big, but an integral design feature of the whole bag, but only those that know will know ;). I find it more discrete than all the brands/bags with the full name on the outside in silver or gold, even though written small

Completely agree.

This is a perfect first bag. It's versatile and beautiful. I have two soho's (different styles) and love them. I'm seriously thinking of a third similar to the one you are selecting.

I have this bag in black and I definitely think it can be used for both day and night/special occasion. It's big enough to hold a continental sized wallet plus a smart phone, and then maybe a couple of tiny objects like lipstick or a car key, but not much else. The chain is thin and elegant, but is not the most comfortable to wear for a long time. The tassel is lots of fun to play with and adds interest. The leather is durable, so it would be a good investment and should last a long time. Good luck with your choice!

I can add inside also my sunglasses, not with case but in their fabric sack. I like the leather a lot: it is soft at touch but seems to be resistant, too. Well, you know, I've just bought it so I'm still deeply in love with it ;-)

It is a very nice bag! I have a few Gucci bags and I honestly find the quality to be better than my bags from a higher price point. While I don't have the specific bag you are asking about, I do have the Disco. If this bag is anything like that one, one side will have the GG, but the other side won't. Personally, this is excellent because I can turn it to the non GG side if I am in a questionable neighborhood or just don't find it appropriate for the occasion or company.

I saw the red. I am looking for something to go with almost anything that is why I want the black. I have three red bags (different brands), so I didn't want another. This probably will be my last luxury bag for a while due to other financial responsibilities. The luxury ones I already have are dressy. A bag that can be casual and dressy would be perfect! Oh and I would really love that last bag to be a gucci!

You'll love this bag. I own one (in beige...I needed something for spring/summer when I wear white). What's great about this bag is you can wear it casually via crossbody, double the strap (wrap under the flap) to be dressy/hide the logo under your arm or you can put the chain completely into the bag and use as a clutch. Very versatile!
