ophidia or marmont?

Heyy I need help XD so I’m new I just found out about this forum cuz I’m struggling whether i wanna get a new bag or not. Okay so I bought a new Gucci Ophidia Round bag back in June 2020 from Vestiaire, it’s my first designer bag and I think that’s a pretty good deal (its lower than retail price) . But due to the coronavirus, I don’t have the chance to go out and use it so its still brand new sitting in my wardrobe now. But now I saw the Gucci Mini Marmont Matelasse and I love it !

So im struggling now, should i sell the ophidia bag and get the marmont bag? If i sell the ophidia bag i will probably lose money but i think i love the marmont more cuz its just much more practical because of the size and the design off course. Or should i keep the ophidia and save money to buy the marmont bag? What do you guys think? Do u think ophidia or marmont will be trendy for say 10 years after? I really need some opinions now. Thanks!! xx

I completely agree - perfect description of the Marmont. The Ophidia design is classic Gucci and the round shape gives it a modern edge.

I actually quite like it. I have only recently jumped on board with the Marmont it was just coming out when I got my Soho Disco which i was late to the party with too. I don't tend to jump on new in things when it comes to bags unless they've been around a while and I still like them (have done this with many "it" bags in the past).

So far in the last two weeks I have bought 2 small marmont camera bags in Black and Light Blue and love them both. Eyeing the Porcelain Rose next. I feel like it suits my style and fits what I want to carry etc. I have watched many youtube on them when deciding what to get and one thing that keeps coming up about the marmont is how well made it is for its price point which I do agree. If it looks like an el cheapo chain store bag from a mall to someone else then great! I don't really buy my bags for others and I'd rather them think it was any old thing than ask me awkward questions about it.

I'm actually not a fan of many of the other Gucci lines that people gush over here, but same could be said for any bag really from any brand. Take away the logo and it could be a cheap copy done by any old mall accessory shop. Thats where they get their inspiration anyway.

Omg! You echoed my sentiments perfectly! I also just purchased the porcelain rose in the flap style and I just LOVE it! But I haven't used it because I'm not sure if I should keep it or not. But I guess I should not focus on being in style and more in what I love and I am just in LOVE! although I'm four years late. I honestly don't mind buying from another brand but no one has this perfect pinky nude shade like this one. And nothing else from Gucci appeals to me either

You should definitely get the flap style in this colour you'll love it!

I like the Marmont style. I just got the camera bag in canvas and leather.

What did you decide? I’ve always loved the Ophidia circle bag but I didn’t like the fact that it can only be worn crossbody on long shoulder style. But I must admit it is a classic style.

I actually LOVE the Mini Marmont Matelasse - but are you thinking the mini flap or mini camera? I'm super-biased, but if you can spring on one of the statement mini Marmont flaps - DO IT.

I have both. A Marmont Matelasse camera bag and a Ophidia. I think Marmont is a practical everyday bag but might not carry much value in many years down but Ophidia is a classic. Its quintessential Gucci. Even after years it will look like it is an heirloom from your grandmother. So its upto you how you want your bag to be. Good Luck!
