Ophidia GG Small vs. Dionysus Super Mini?

Help! For the longest time I’ve been going back and forth about buying the Dionysus Super Mini. I’ve always been a nano bag kind of person and I loved how tiny and versatile it is (style wise).



But, recently I’ve been seeing the Ophidia bags (started with the dome shape ones) and yesterday I was at the supermarket and I saw a lady with the small Ophidia, and I just lost it. It looked so good on her and I couldn’t stop obsessing over it.



This will be my first Gucci bag and I’m not sure which one I should go for. I’m also currently in Italy and hoping I can get some tax refund.

On the Global Blue website I calculated that I could get the Ophidia for €1121 (from €1290 / approx. tax refund €169) or the Dionysus for €549 (from €630 / approx. tax refund €81).

The Dionysus SM will be super cheap and I think it’ll be a lighter purchase (plus I’ve always wanted it) and I could wear it to more places (except to work as it carries too little). Cons are I could only wear it outside of work time and I already have enough selection of nano bags.

BUT, the Ophidia carries a lot more (and I can wear it to work) and it looks so nice. I have either medium sized bags, or nano sized bags. This would be a nice addition to my closet (but it is less versatile in terms of style and I haven’t mulled over it for a long time unlike the Dionysus).

What do you guys think? Should I pull the trigger on one of them or should I just wait until I find something that sings to my heart? Any other alternatives?

Well, I am super in love with the Dionysus, I think that it is prettier than the Orphidia. I have a super mini one and I love it, mine is velvet black. I also have the medium size, this one in monogram and I can say that the material is very durable and easy to use. The only thing to consider is the size. In my super mini I can barely fit an iPhone XR, a card holder and my keys (no key holder will fit).
The Orphidia is bigger so, maybe, you can use it more.

Based on what you wrote it seems you see more positive points from the Orphidia, but your heart really wants a Dionysus

Why don’t you try the Gucci Dionysus Mini instead? That has the GG supreme logo and the lion clasp but it is a little more roomy and more practical.

The Gucci Ophidia is a lot bigger than the super mini Dionysus.

I’m not really a huge fan of the square size and the look (when used as a cross body) of the Dionysus mini. Also, I think I didn’t really consider the mini size of the Dionysus because I wanted the super mini for different reasons. Like the super mini purchase was to add another tiny nano bag to my collection and it wasn’t meant as a practical bag purchase... if that makes any sense.

Ahh you’re so lucky to have both in your collection. The Dionysus is super pretty and elegant! How long have you had it for and are you still loving it?

I think I want the Ophidia bag because I feel bad spending so much money on such a tiny bag (when I also have enough nano bags) but I have wanted the Dionysus Super Mini for the longest time. It’s just such a cute bag (although not functional).

I think you should definitely get the Dionysus super mini if it’s something you’ve always wanted. I tried it on yesterday and it’s super chic. As long as it fits your phone, cards, lipstick and keys I think it would be with it.

hi i'm interested in purchasing the super mini dionysus but not sure if my iphone 11 will fit inside. You say you iphone xr fits inside (which is the same size as the 11). can you fit it in with the case? can you post a picture if the phone inside the bag?

Hi! The iPhone 11 will not fit with the case. I wanted this and tried to make it work, but couldn’t. So instead, I bought the dionysus WOC which holds my phone and more. Hope that helps!
