I was just wondering which do you prefer better? I absolutely love getting pampered in the store, but I also love hunting for retired pieces which can't be purchased in the store anymore (over a few glasses of wine of course). Some of the internet based retailers with which I do business with have started putting up high resolution videos which makes it incredibly easy to pull the trigger!

I don't live in an urban area, so not a lot of choice for me. Internet is a must have, along with a measuring tape in the drawer of the computer desk lol.

Online. I always think of what happened when I wanted to upgrade my engagement ring after 25 years. So, i went back to the store where I got it. First they were dismissive ("oh is that a J? It's got a strong bowtie" No it's an H and I bought it here). The guy did try to backtrack a bit when I said I had purchased it at this store. He offered me a deal to trade my stone in for a GIA 3x and pay $X.00 * out of pocket. I asked too see the paperwork to check the HCA and he looked at me like I was speaking Martian. Meanwhile I was looking at a pre-owned but unset AGS 000 stone with better specs(super ideal signature) online that cost $X.00 *. So I could trade my 2.4ct stone in and pay $x.00 * or I could keep my stone and pay the very same $X.00 *. It wasn't a difficult decision. The guy at the store didn't understand why I wasn't jumping at his offer. "But I'm giving you $Y.00* for your stone!". Yeah, and jacking up the price of the new stone by at least that much.

I'm all about online and I wish the Internet had been available when I first got engaged...back in the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

*2Y = X

I never receive good treatment in the store because I am young. I am always ignored until it becomes clear that I actually do intend to buy something more than a sterling chain, and then magically the SA becomes my best friend. I always get the best treatment from online vendors: prompt replies to questions, extra photos if I ask for them, immediate resolution of any issues. I like to go to the store sometimes to look at pieces in person, but I usually go home and buy it online.
