Hello! I've been contemplating my next purchase and it's so tough to decide! I really love the WG pave pendant but my friend pointed out that for the same/a little less I can get a 10 motif onyx YG necklace which is also on my list.

I think I may reach for the pave more as the 10 motif might be too dressy... but which would you get and why?

It truly depends on your lifestyle and whether you’re a pendant person or a statement necklace person. Of course you can be both but usually we lean towards one more than the other. I opted for the pavè first because I’m a pendant person and love layering, whereas the 10 motif is a statement necklace and doesn’t really work well with other necklaces of similar lengths. A 10 motif still on my wishlist but I’m not prioritizing pieces I won’t wear as often, and I am currently prioritizing a 20 motif more so than a 10 personally. Have you tried them both on at the boutique? Cost aside, I would get the one that really speaks to you! At these prices you should buy what you love and not what you feel is a “bargain”.

I recommend getting the one you will wear the most :)

can you go to try things on? When I go, I end up thinking about things that are totally different

I personally love my GMOP six motif necklace (but I’m a minority opinion on TPF)

You will know best which you will wear and enjoy more, but I love my pave pendant. I have it in YG because that matches with the rest of my VCA and other YG jewelry, but it is a great piece and one I am really happy with!

In my opinion, the pave pendant is a low maintenance, easy to grab and wear piece - just the kind of jewelry pieces I love. But again, I am a pendant lover. If price was not an issue, which do you see yourself wearing more? I would get that. One thing I have learnt is that things that look great on paper in building a collection may not always be the most wearable pieces. I would choose ease of ‘wearability’ any day.

I have the 10-motif and also two different pendants (not the pave though). I think it depends if you are more casual and plan to wear it daily (pave pendant) or more of a dressy person who wears lots of black (10-motif onyx). The pave will probably “go” with more items as it’s diamonds, but the onyx is truly stunning. I wear black often so for me, getting use of the 10-motif isn’t hard. However, if this were my only VCA necklace, I’d probably get the pave as it is more versatile.

I have 2/10 motif yellow gold onyx necklaces and the YG Pave pendant. It is hard to say which I would say is my favorite as they are both worn regularly. I would say if I had to pick one I would get the YG pave pendant to start. It is just such a beautiful sparkly piece and you can dress it up or wear it with jeans. Then down the road add a 10 motif onyx (or 2 of them).

I would go for the 10 motif. Since I’ve started paying more attention to jewelry on others I think 10s are among the least common pieces I see, so they catch my eye.

That said, as others have pointed out it doesn’t matter what’s dressier or more unusual or more expensive, it really matters which fits your style more.

I voted for the onyx ten motif. The vintage pave pendant is beautiful, but my eye has been drawn to statement pieces more lately. I have the hammered yg ten motif and LOVE it. I wore it today, actually. It’s my favorite necklace in my collection.

I find the 10 motif immensely more wearable after I had it extended to 18”. All of a sudden it’s just as wearable as a pendant but with extra oomph. The 16” sits more like a choker on me and it’s a more formal feel IMO. I have the onyx 10 motif and love it.

Ooh true I always felt like the regular 10 motif length feels more formal and dressy. Would you mind sharing mod photos of your extended 10 motif?

I love both style necklaces. Currently patiently waiting for my 10 motif with removable extender hammered yg to match my new earrings and bracelet recently received. I chose the 10 motif cause not only it’s pretty, it’s a statement as well, not as common and you get more motif for the price. And with the extender, can be worn in 3 different lengths. Bonus 4th way is when the bracelet is attached to it too! Win-win!
Good Luck! I’d love to have the pave too tbh lol

I bought my first VCA piece in May this year. Was considering between the YG pave pendant and the 10 motif YG MOP. Ultimately I bought the YG pave pendant as it is more versatile and not too loud. It is more suitable as a everyday piece for my style/dressing. I'm very happy with my choice.
