I tried the sweet Alhambra bracelet in Carnelian and was shown two options. They looked pretty much the same with brown/burgundy undertones. Is this the typical color of VCA’s carnelians? I was wondering if there were brighter, or truer red hues. I’ll try another store next week, but wondering if anyone had any to compare?

I’ve seen more variety of hues in the vintage Alhambra size. But all of the sweet Alhambras have been a darker tone. The SA said the carnelian was pretty much a dark burgundy red with slight variation so kind of confused. I’ll check out another store next week.

Did you try it against your skin?
I ordered one for in-store pickup and was pretty underwhelmed when the SA showed it to me in the box, sitting in the black box/wrapped around the "pillow" (what do you call it?) - looked dark burgundy red indeed. But then when I put it on (I'm quite fair skinned) it looked great, and also much lighter. It's slightly translucent so what it's set against definitely matters.

Yes, I tried it on. I’m more tan with yellow undertones. I was hoping the lighting in the store was poor. He only had 2 options for me and the coloring was identical. I have 30 days to exchange so hoping they’ll have better shipment within that time otherwise maybe I’ll exchange for the Alhambra necklace in onyx.

Hi! I would exchange it for onyx. The Sweets motif is so small, and the brown undertone of carnelian will not pop on you the way I sense you want it to. Carnelian on skin will never be a true red, it's either brownish tinted or orange/yellow tinted.
The single onyx motif will pop on you!

I vote onyx.

Hey there! I find that the tone changes quite drastically depending on the lighting! I sometimes swear I even see some orange tones when I am looking straight through the stone. That is definitely in daylight. It’s very shocking how much it differs - I didn’t expect to see any lighter tones at first and I was OK with that.

Beautiful, esp paired with the JUC! I would love if mine could change color. But I’ve looked at it in/outdoors under different lighting conditions and it just looks like a flat, dark brown to me.
