OMG!! Look what happened to my bow :(

I was out and about today enjoying the lovely weather in NYC. I was strolling along SoHo with one of my girlfriends when I suddenly noticed that BOTH of the bows on my satchel has SPLITS in the leather!! It's much worse than the cracking everyone else has experienced on the sealing. One bow is 1000x worse than the other. I think the bows were made by sealing two pieces of leather together and it just split in half!! The other bow only has a slight split. Luckily, I was in SoHo so i headed straight for the Miu Miu boutique. They gave me the addresses of two leather specialists in the city and said it would probably be better to bring it to them than have to wait like 2 months for them to send it in for repair.

Does anyone know if Miu Miu repairs are free?? What should I do.. I'm so upset. :sad: You would think these quality issues wouldn't happen with a $1200 bag!

Omigosh! That split looks way worse than tiny rips/cracks on the edges like some bows get. That's entirely unacceptable! I hope MiuMiu reimburses you for the repair cost - I highly doubt it but I still wish they would.

This is definetly far more worse than plastic sealing cracks.. I think you should RETURN THE BAG and get a new one or REFUND. This is ridiculous..... Miu Miu should really be hearing these complaints.

I hope you get this problem resolved and end up with a PERFECT bow or atleast your happiness!

I think that MIU MIU definitely rushed production on some of the bows. just bought another bow for a friend and the quality seems better. Sealant in place, no rips etc.

I would send MIU MIU a BILL for the repairs. But as I understand, the leather edges are sealed with a plastic sealant. I hope that the repairs do not require stitching. Make sure that you know your options.

I definitely agree that the coffer quality is a lot better. However, I do know that TPFers have experience issues with their light colored coffers.

This is ridiculous. The hardware on Miu Miu and Prada purses are brass coated and I haven't heard any quality issues associated with Prada purses.

Please keep us updated. Most importantly, don't dwell on this. The weekend is almost here and you should not be unhappy. It's Miu Miu's fault, not yours.

I'm so sorry to hear this has happened to your beautiful bag! I'd dearly love to get my hands on a Bow bag but after reading all the issues some of you ladies have with these bags, it's kinda put me off getting one now, not if they ask over $1k for it and then defects show up after usage. I hope you get this sorted out. Good luck!

I am so sad about this and here's the thing - I tend to buy most of my bags at Nordstrom and if my bag had a split on the bow, I would take it promptly to Nordstrom and ask for either a refund or replacement. Nordstrom's reputation is such they would likely replace and then I would imagine they would take it up with Miu Miu directly. You take it to Miu Miu directly, and they give you leather repair shops???!!!!! What is that? The split, not good, but the response? Completely unacceptable. Just my thought anyway...

Sigh..

I got my bows repaired at a leather specialist someone at the Miu Miu boutique recommended..
- the bows were resealed only to SPLIT again..
- the specialist got a few black sealant marks on different parts of the bow
- i demanded those marks be cleaned.. he cleaned it alright.. it took off the top layer of the leather so it's not glossy and a bit discolored......

AND i paid $100!

I am going to Miu Miu tomorrow and demand that they fix this!!!!

I would ask for a bag replacement, not repair. I would very directly say that you took their advice, showed more patience than they deserved, and now you are left with a $1000 damaged bag which is unacceptable. Then I would recommend buying your bags at Nordstrom, where they have more power based on purchase volume. If Nordstrom keeps exchanging bags and sending them all back to Miu Miu, you can bet they will resolve the quality issues. In the meantime, you will have the bag Nordstrom is willing to stand by.

I LOVE the color of akat's bag and I want that color as well. But I would wait for Nordstrom to get it, especially after hearing what you have been through, I am so sorry!
